Zero Suit Samus is simply Samus Aran without her distinctive, orange power suit. She first appeared in this form as a playable character in Metroid Zero Mission. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Zero Suit Samus is a playable character. She can be played once Samus performs her final smash, Zero Laser, which will overheat her regular power suit.

While losing power, she gains speed. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, she has the ability to use her gun as a plasma whip, and to paralyze opponents.

Appearances

Metroid: Zero Mission

In Metroid: Zero Mission, Samus loses her abilities shortly after battling Mother Brain, left only with a Zero Suit and an Emergency Pistol. But she manages to defeat the Space Pirate Mother in the end.

Metroid Prime series

Zero Suit Samus only appears in the ending cutscenes in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime Hunters, and in the opening and endings in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Metroid: Other M

Samus appears in a cutscene where she's being reinstated after returning from Planet Zebes. A countdown starts, and soon after, Samus escapes the Bottle Ship in her Zero Suit.

Super Smash Bros. series

"Zero Suit Samus's Final Smash. Samus loses her Power Suit when she fires the Zero Laser, but she can restore it—that is, she can return from her Zero Suit form to her familiar armored form. That being said, Zero Suit Samus is very quick with great reach, so there are tactical reasons to fight as is. If that's your preference, don't pick up any Smash Balls."
