Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch (JP) is a remaster of the 2013 game Yo-kai Watch for the Nintendo 3DS which released on October 10, 2019 in Japan with a launch price of 4,980 Yen on the Nintendo Switch.

On July 29, 2019, the official Level-5 Twitter account made a tweet announcing the game and it's release date (October 10, 2019), along with the tweet was a link to a section on the official Yo-kai Watch Japanese website detailing more details about the game.

Lead-up[]

On the same day as the game was revealed the official Level-5 Twitter account posted a tweet talking about the box art.

On the same day as the game was revealed two tweets were made to show some screenshots of the game with the text on the tweets being the same as some text on the website.

On the same day as the game was revealed the Level-5 twitter sales account posted a link to the game on Rakuten books on a tweet, the official Level-5 Twitter account retweeted the tweet.

On July 30, 2019, the Level-5 Twitter sales account posted a tweet with 2 links to the games amazon page, the official Level-5 Twitter account retweeted the tweet.

Later on August 7, 2019, the official Level-5 YouTube account uploaded a video titled "【PV】『妖怪ウォッチ1 for Nintendo Switch』PV1" (which translates to [PV] “Youkai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch” PV1), the video featured the Japanese voice of Nathan "Nate" Adams talking about the game, the video was reposted as a tweet on the official Level-5 Twitter account 3 days later on August 10, 2019.

Differences from Yo-kai Watch (2013)[]

  • The game features enhanced graphics.
  • If a Nintendo Switch owns both Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch and Yo-kai Watch 4, somehow the player will unlock Yōmakai Gichō Ikakamone Sōkamone (or Chairman McKraken in English), the final boss of Yo-kai Watch as a Yo-kai to use in battle in Yo-kai Watch 4.
  • The game allows the player to scan in Yōkai Āku's (or Yo-kai Ark in English) to unlock unknown rewards.
  • Rare medals have been changed from being golden to normal silver with a capital r in the top right corner and legendary Yo-kai now have the golden medals.
