Winged Pikmin [Edit] [Talk]

Winged Pikmin are a type of Pikmin that appears in Pikmin 3. Winged Pikmin have the ability to fly and carry goods over water and large gaps. They can also defeat flying enemies or enemies with high up weak spots more easily than other Pikmin types. They have 0.5 power.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Winged Pikmin is Olimar's new recovery move where 2 Winged Pikmin appear and carry him, then they disappear. This replaced Pikmin Chain due to Olimar only being able to have 3 Pikmin instead of 6 at once. In fact it works inversely to Pikmin Chain, the Winged Pikmin can only carry so much. So when Olimar has less Pikmin, the Winged Pikmin can carry him farther. This was a necessary change to Olimar because Pikmin Chain is easily regarded useless because of edge hoggers.

Winged Pikmin also appear as a trophy, and the trophy information states:

"These pink Pikmin have big, blue eyes and nice wings to help them fly. In Smash Bros., they show up to carry Olimar and friends through the air. However, how high and far they can fly is affected by how many friends they have to carry. More Pikmin will weigh them down."
