IGN named it the 89th best game for the NES[1], and the final issue of Nintendo Power named it the 254th best game to come out on a Nintendo console.[2] 1UP.com called it a rather poor game inspired by The Legend of Zelda, and said that Crystalis was a far better Legend of Zelda-inspired game.

Famitsu magazine gave it a score of 26 out of 40,[3] and Family Computer Magazine gave it a 21.05/30. The VideoGame magazine gave it a 4/5. Video Games and Computer Entertainment gave it a 7 out of 10, and the magazine Hobby Consolas gave it a 75/100.[4]
