The Wii U Menu channel was a channel exclusive to users that were using a Wii U to play the Wii. This channel would redirect the user to the Wii U Menu. When the channel is modded into a normal Wii, it would reset the console when trying to launch it. However, it does somewhat work as intended when used on a modded Wii, since it's intended purpose was to reset the console.
The main reason this channel existed was to signify that the user could return to the Wii U Menu and play Wii U games at any time, and to ensure that the Wii U wasn't used for the Wii Menu only.
