Warlock Punch

Warlock Punch in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Warlock Punch is the standard special move of Ganondorf in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Since its debut, it has consistently been one of the most powerful attacks of any character that is not a Final Smash.

Background[]

In Melee does 30% and in Brawl 33% (36% when reversed). In Melee is like a slower animation of Falcon Punch, but higher knockback and damage. In Brawl, it has a unique animation and use his left hand instead of the right one. In Brawl, it has more knockback and damage than in Melee, but now can also be reversed and is performed slightly faster. This is known as a Reverse Warlock Punch. When reversed it can KO at percentages as low as 15%. It can, actually, KO light characters at 0%. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, the move has armor so he is difficult to interrupt. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, all hitboxes had their durations increased by 2 frames, and the super armor lasts much longer, being active from 11-67 for normal and 21-75 for the reverse. Landing the move also triggers the Special Zoom effect. The hitboxes have been made smaller, however, making the move a bit more difficult to connect.

Customizations[]

With Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, there are 2 alternate forms of the move:

  • Warlock Blade - Ganondorf stabs the Sword of the Six Sages from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to hit the opponents. The sword's tip is a sweet spot and it has very good shield damage.
  • Warlock Thrust - A faster punch with no super armor, less knockback and less damage.
