Episode 1
A Just Thief
Euden: HAH! HYAAAH!
Euden: ...Whew. I'd say that's the day's training.
Euden: It's turned into rather an eerie night.
Euden: Maybe it's the dampness to the air, but it feels almost...uncanny.
Euden: I'll be happy to get back to where everyone—
Euden: Hngh?!
Waike: You dodged that? Impressive.
Waike: Perhaps there really is something to that little nickname of yours.
Euden: What nickname? Who are you?
Euden: And why did you attack me?!
Waike: Curious which of your past atrocities is the one that finally did you in, mmm?
Waike: Well, that grim list ends tonight, Alfredo the Clairvoyant!
Waike: There's no place in this world for a noble so foul and rotten as you.
Waike: Your wicked life ends today!
Euden: I don't know who you're talking about, but it isn't me!
Waike: Ha! Your lies can't save you now!
Waike: Spend your final breath on a prayer for forgiveness!
Euden: I'm telling you, I'm not this Alfredo person! ...Er, which is a really weird name, if I'm being honest.
Euden: My name is Euden.
Waike: The traitor prince?
Euden: Now THAT is a nickname I recognize.
Waike: Expose your face, rogue! My eyes shall have the final judgment in this matter.
Waike: Wha—?! You're not Alfredo at all!
Waike: My most humble apologies, good sir! Pray forgive my insult.
Waike: Had you not dodged... Fie, but I nearly did the unthinkable!
Waike: I certainly did not expect to run into the traitor prince out here.
Waike: Well, now I HAVE to join you.
Euden: What? Who even ARE you?
Waike: I am Waike, thief by trade, friend to the weak, and fiend to the wicked!
Waike: You gather allies to reclaim your homeland, do you not?
Waike: I believe justice is on your side in this battle.
Waike: I shall fight at your side to steal back the lands so cruelly ripped from your bosom!
Euden: I, um...thanks? I still have questions. Lots of them, actually.
Euden: But for now, allow me to welcome you to our cause.
Waike: Being run off from your home cuts deep. I've some experience with this as well.
Waike: You have my sympathy.
Euden: Are you in exile?
Waike: Enough about me!
Waike: Let us speak of you and the fight that lies ahead, Euden!
Episode 2
Guilty as Charged
Ranzal: Whoa! Get a load of this feast! Everything looks incredible!
Waike: Let us dine! *chomp* *smack* ...HURF?!
Waike: This is not amazing...
Waike: It is SPECTACULAR!
Waike: The fish practically melts on the tongue! My mouth is a jester's carnival of flavor!
Ranzal: Bwa ha ha! We got another gut what gets it over here! Keep that plate piled, pal!
Ranzal: I'll take a round'a seconds myself!
Cleo: It won't run away, you know.
Cleo: If you slowed down, you might even taste the food you're currently wolfing down.
Cleo: Waike may be as big a glutton as you, but at least he has proper table manners.
Euden: Now that you mention it, you're right. There's an air of refinement to it, even.
Ranzal: Yeah, he's usin' a fork AND a knife. Plus that little paper dealie ya wipe yer face with! ...Show-off.
Cleo: Such refinement doesn't end at the table.
Cleo: He carries himself with dignity and poise in general.
Ranzal: I never had much use for them things, but I see whatcha mean.
Waike: Might you all be so good as to cease gawking at me? I find it unnerving.
Euden: Er, sorry. We were just marveling at how...elegant you are.
Euden: You have these little movements and gestures that are just so refine—
Waike: Gah! Hearing it voiced aloud is even worse than the gawking!
Cleo: Were your parents strict about etiquette?
Cleo: Is this the result of their teaching?
Euden: Ah, I see it now.
Euden: You're highborn. Aren't you?
Ranzal: Whoa, wait. Like an aristocrat?
Ranzal: I think you guys are forgettin' one thing...
Ranzal: Our buddy here's a thief. Ain't no way—
Waike: I suppose there's no hiding these things.
Ranzal: No hidin' what things?
Waike: Guilty as charged, my new friends! I was, in fact, born a noble.
Ranzal: Huh. Neat.
Waike: "Neat"?! That's all? Give me a true reaction here, people!
Ranzal: WHAAAT?! A N-N-NOBLE?!
Waike: There's no call for sarcasm.
Cleo: There must be quite a story behind how a noble wound up a thief.
Waike: Indeed there is! I became who I am today for one reason alone...
Euden: Aaaand that is...
Waike: FOR JUSTICE!
Euden: ......
Ranzal: ......
Cleo: ...Well. Let's continue our meal.
Waike: What, no love for justice? No one? Anyone? Hellooo?!
Waike: Give me SOMETHING here, people!
Episode 3
Hunter and Prey
Waike: There you are, Euden.
Waike: Fancy a little break from the grind? Perhaps you might join me for a hunt.
Euden: You're kind to offer, but I'm afraid I've little experience in hunting.
Waike: Not to worry, my friend.
Waike: I'll teach you all there is to know from the ground up!
Euden: Well, I can't very well say no to that.
Waike: Excellent! Let us be off, then.
Euden: Er...it's night.
Waike: Not a problem. Follow me!
Euden: What in... Waike?!
Euden: We're really going hunting in the middle of the night?
Euden: Are we tracking some nocturnal animal?
Waike: Oh, something like that. If the tip I got is correct, they should be along shortly.
Waike: ...Heh. Speak of the devil.
Euden: Hmm? I've seen that man before at the palace.
Euden: He's a nobleman, if I recall.
Waike: The hunt is on, friend. Let's get to work.
Euden: Please tell me we're not hunting what I think we're hunting.
Waike: We are hunting EXACTLY what you think we're hunting!
Waike: Uh-oh. Looks like we'll need to move fast before the prey slips the noose.
Euden: Waike, wait!
Euden: I'm not going to let you attack some random stranger!
Waike: Shh, quiet! He'll—
Waike: Damn! He heard us and took heel.
Waike: Why did you stop me, Euden?!
Euden: I think you owe me an explanation, Waike. What is this hunt?
Euden: Why did you target that man?
Waike: Karma. He's been draining the people dry to line his pockets—it's only fair he learn what it feels like on the other end.
Waike: He's done plenty to warrant this much.
Waike: If you had any idea the sorts of things he's been up to in secret...
Waike: I'm a thief, yes. I make no bones about it.
Waike: But I only steal from crooked nobles who exploit the common folk!
Waike: All I'm doing is returning ill-gotten coin to its rightful owners.
Euden: Thank you for the explanation. I understand what you're doing now.
Euden: But it still isn't right, Waike. Justice isn't served by committing further crimes.
Euden: Surely there are other ways to go about it, especially for a man of your skills. Why stoop to this?
Waike: ...Rgh.
Waike: I do not understand you.
Waike: You and I are the same. Or we SHOULD be. How can you bear to stay so high-minded?
Euden: Now I don't understand.
Waike: Ugh. Forget it.
Waike: This hunt has been an abject failure. I'm going back to the castle.
Episode 4
Stolen Homeland
Waike: ...What do you want?
Euden: Off on another noble hunt?
Waike: And if I am? Will you try to stop me?
Euden: Not a bad idea. I may take you up on it.
Euden: But first, I want to hear how it is you came to do this. Attacking people, I mean.
Euden: I'm sure you weren't always the sort of man who made such things his hobby.
Waike: We can have story time once I'm back.
Waike: Now kindly move aside.
Euden: ......
Waike: Euden.
Waike: ...Or we can have story time now. Since you so clearly insist.
Waike: Very well. I shall tell you of the day everything changed.
Waike: (I grew up in the far north, born to a sylvan noble house.)
Waike: (I wanted for nothing as a child, but one day my travels took me to a remote village. The experience opened my eyes.)
Waike: (I learned the comfortable life I enjoyed was built on the suffering of others.)
Village Chief: Master Waike, sir, the king's new taxes are more than we can pay. At this rate, every last one of us will starve.
Village Chief: Please, sir. Please speak to him. Ask him to reconsider. I beg you!
Waike: I had no idea you all were suffering so. Pray forgive my ignorance.
Waike: I cannot ignore the problem now that I am aware. I shall see to it at once.
Waike: (Theirs was a poor village to begin with, but they were a hardy, honest people.)
Waike: (I swore to do all in my power to help them.)
Waike: (No law is just that sees good folk like them suffer. It cannot be so.)
Waike: (And so I begged an audience with the king and asked him to revisit his policy.)
Waike: (Oh, how naive I was...)
Waike: I was branded a traitor to the crown for my trouble and sent into exile.
Waike: The villagers fared worse. Put to death as dangerous radicals all, down to the last woman and child.
Euden: ......
Waike: Now I have a question for you.
Waike: Before we met, I heard the stories of Euden, the exile prince, and saw myself in you.
Waike: But when I look at who stands before me, all I see are reminders there were other paths I might have taken besides revenge.
Waike: I've tried to shut my eyes to them, but it is as I said: I never was able to ignore something once I know it's there.
Waike: Tell me, then: How should I have lived? What was the right answer?
Euden: Waike, I... That's a very difficult question.
Waike: I agree, which is why I need to think on it awhile. I'll leave off my hunts until I've found my answer.
Euden: I know you'll find the right one, so take all the time you need.
Euden: There is much more than revenge waiting for you.
Episode 5
A Dream to Fulfill
Waike: Ho, Euden!
Euden: Hello, Waike. You're certainly in high spirits today.
Waike: I am, at that. Care to join me for a hunt?
Euden: Not if you're off to assault another no—
Waike: No. A real hunt this time.
Waike: Cleo asked me to help procure dinner.
Euden: In that case, I'd be happy to join you.
Waike: Ha ha! What a haul! Feast your eyes!
Euden: ......
Waike: You're just dying to ask, aren't you?
Waike: Go on, then. Out with it.
Euden: Have you found your answer? To what we spoke of earlier, I mean.
Euden: For how you will live your life?
Waike: I have.
Waike: You and I share a similar past, Euden. Don't you think?
Euden: Falsely painted traitors, robbed of those we hold dearest, driven from our homes... Yes, we have our similarities.
Waike: Yet from that shared trauma, we've gone in wildly different directions.
Euden: Perhaps so.
Waike: Yet seeing you, Euden— and seeing how you live—has allowed me the freedom to dream.
Euden: And what do you dream of?
Waike: Taking back my land—and I plan to make it my life's work, starting today.
Waike: Once it's mine, I'll build proper graves for every one of its people whose lives were stolen.
Waike: Until then, I fear I'm on hiatus from the thieving business.
Euden: Waike, that's fantastic news.
Waike: I'm prepared to offer any help I can to you, Euden.
Waike: And all I ask in return...
Waike: is your help to see my dream realized.
Euden: Do you even have to ask? Every resource I command is at your disposal.
Euden: We're allies, Waike—and friends besides.
Waike: Heh. That we are. You have my thanks, Euden.
Euden: I think this calls for a celebration!
Euden: Let's turn this bounty we've hunted into a proper feast and revel until dawn!
Waike: I'll second that!
Waike: A toast then, Euden... to you, and to us!
