The Virtual Console (VC)(JP) service was a video game download service that was offered by Nintendo through the Wii Shop Channel and the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U's eShop, at which classic games from Nintendo's past systems were digitally re-released.
Overview[]
Virtual Console games are official emulations of Nintendo's library of past systems, including the Nintendo Entertainment System, SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and third-party systems such as Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx-16.
During gameplay, players can pull up a menu for saving and viewing digital manuals. When returning to a game, it will sometimes pick up where it was left off.
Each title were individually available for download at the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo eShop (3DS & Wii U) apps before both discontinued.
