Veronica (JP) appears as an antagonist of Fire Emblem Heroes and a young princess of the Emblian Empire, seeking to eradicate the Askr Kingdom by influencing heroes from other worlds. She also appears in Fire Emblem Engage as a DLC Emblem Bracelet, and in Dragalia Lost as a playable unit as part of the Fire Emblem: Lost Heroes event.

Profile[]

Fire Emblem Heroes[]

Veronica is the daughter of the former emperor and his first wife. She has an older half-brother named Bruno, who was forced to leave Embla as a young boy.

Veronica was added to the second Choose Your Legends survey, which she also placed second in. Her Brave Veronica form, from an alternate world, depicts her around a year or two older than her story incarnation.

Book I[]

Veronica invades the realms of other worlds, putting their heroes into contracts in order to invade Askr. Xander continues to align with her even after his contract is broken. She uses previous heroes to serve as distraction while she tries to destroy the summoning ruins and render Kiran powerless. However, she is defeated and forced to retreat.

Book II[]

Book II Antagonists FEH

Veronica with Surtr, Laevatein, and Loki.

Veronica aligns herself with the kingdom of Múspell against Askr, though she does not fully trust Surtr. When the aforementioned leader plans to burn Askr to ashes, Veronica disagrees, wanting to conquer Askr instead. She and Xander prepare to fight Surtr, but Loki intervenes.

Later, Surtr forces Veronica to come to Múspell after Surtr defeats Xander. She is imprisoned with Ylgr in Surtr's castle. Helbindi arrives and rescues the two of them, holding Surtr off while the two escape. The two are recaptured by Laevatein, but Bruno makes it in time and saves them, informing Veronica that Xander is safe.

Book III[]

Veronica and Embla work with Askr to repel Hel's invasion. She and the Order of Heroes enter an alternate Embla, where Veronica discovers a text that discusses a rite involving the heart of Angrboða. This rite could kill Hel, but it would also kill everyone else in the world, beating until all are dead. Veronica reasons that since the rite was performed in the alternate realm, the heart should be nearby and less dangerous to use against Hel.

In addition, one of Hel's generals, Thrasir, is revealed to be a version of Veronica from an alternate world where all of her friends and family died.

Book IV[]

Veronica makes another temporary alliance with Askr while searching for Bruno and Xander. They encounter what appears to be the two men, but Alfonse reveals them to be illusions. Later on, Veronica helps persuade Mirabilis to help the group enter Dökkálfheimr. When Triandra sends nightmares to stop them, Veronica stays behind to fend them off so the rest of the group can enter the realm.

Book V[]

Veronica makes a brief appearance in Book V when Embla is invaded by Fáfnir and his army.

Book VI[]

Veronica and the Order of Heroes are investigating disappearing villages near the Embla-Askr border. They discover Elm, who has been closing the villages off, who tells them the curse of Embla's blood is taking effect. Veronica begins to hear a voice telling her to kill the Askr bloodline, but not wanting to attack them, she flees, encountering her relative Letizia. Letizia then informs Veronica that she is actually framing her for treason as revenge for Veronica's father usurping Letizia's family.

While in prison, the guards ask if she truly is guilty. She says she isn't, but tells them to ask Letizia for her version of events. Eventually, the majority of Embla's residents believe Veronica over Letizia, and the guards free her. After marching on the throne, Veronica spares Letizia, but she refuses to work with her and is possessed by Embla. Following the battle, Embla tries to make Letizia land the killing blow on Veronica, but Letizia instead kills herself.

Later on, Bruno confronts Embla and is possessed by her. He is forced to fight the Order of Heroes and loses his life in the process, but it is revealed that he had given Xander the Yggdrasil Key, which Xander gave to Veronica, allowing her to free herself from Embla's curse.

Fire Emblem Engage[]

Veronica appears in the Bracelet of the Lonely Heir, one of the DLC Engage Bracelets in Fire Emblem Engage. Her special skill Summon Hero allows her to summon an extra unit for the user, which can include other Emblems.

In the Fell Xenologue, Veronica's bracelet is owned by Brodia, which they relinquish to Alear and Nel after a battle. The bracelet is later used in the final battle at the fallen Somniel. In both battles, Veronica's bracelet is used by Diamant.

Personality[]

Veronica is a cold leader who, while determined to carry out her father's dream, carries loneliness within her. She has both childish and violent tendencies, holding tea parties while also threatening to pop people's heads off. Such violent tendencies can likely be attributed to the blood of Embla. Despite this, she has a sense of compassion, opposing Surtr's plans to completely destroy Askr when she simply wants it conquered. She has a few strong bonds, with her brother Bruno, the hero Xander, and her "sissy" Letizia. While she initially opposes Askr and its heroes, she begins to warm up to them over the course of the game, ending Book VI by having a tea party with Sharena.

Veronica and Cleo

Veronica appears as a playable adventurer in Dragalia Lost as part of the Fire Emblem: Lost Heroes event, alongside Alfonse, Marth, and Fjorm.

In the event, Veronica is battling Alfonse, Fjorm, and Marth when suddenly they are transported to Grastaea after Loki mixes the powers of the gates with a Grastaean otherworld fragment. Someone who appears to be Veronica is first seen commanding unknown forces. She battles Euden and his forces, but loses.

When Alfonse wakes up, he finds Veronica being pursued by Dyrenell soldiers. He defeats the soldiers, but finds that Veronica has lost her memory. They flee the soldiers and encounter Euden, Luca, Ranzal, and Elisanne, who recognize her from before. Believing Euden to be hostile, Alfonse tells Veronica to run and he duels Euden until Fjorm arrives and informs the Alberians that she, Alfonse, and Veronica are from a different world. She tells them that the Veronica they fought before was in fact Loki in disguise. The two princes agree to join forces.

After waiting for Alfonse to arrive, a woman guides Veronica to a nearby village, which Marth is defending. However, Loki arrives and tells Veronica that Alfonse sacrificed himself to save her and is currently locked in a dungeon. She tells Veronica that she can restore her memories if she accompanies her, and despite Marth's protests, she agrees. Shortly after, Alfonse and Euden arrive to the village and join with Marth.

At the Dyrenell fortress, Loki and Harle tell Veronica that they can restore her memories, but only if she agrees to receive black mana power. Alfonse and Euden's parties arrive, but Veronica has already received the mana. Euden suspects they can return her to her senses by battling and exhausting her supply of black mana. Following the fight, Veronica is returned to her senses and regains her memory. Loki and Harle inform the party that the village Marth had lodged in is currently undefended. Veronica begins to leave by herself, but Alfonse reminds her that they are in a world where Askr and Embla do not exist, and the two form a temporary truce.

After noticing several tears in the otherworld, Loki informs them that Alfonse's power to open gates and Veronica's to close them cannot be sustained in Grastaea, telling them that one must disappear for the world to survive. Veronica ponders killing Alfonse, but Euden recounts a story from a thousand years ago about a gateway to another world that a demon was summoned from. While researching, Veronica discovers an ancient text that mentions Askr, where scientists connected to another world but were only briefly able to speak to an Askran. They make their way to the gateway and Alfonse realizes he can open it, but Loki and Harle arrive intent on destroying it. The party successfully repels the Dyrenells and reopens the gateway, and Alfonse says goodbye to the Alberians before he and the others return to Askr.

Trivia[]

  • Veronica shares her English voice actress, Wendee Lee, with Lyn, Sophia, and Maria.
  • Base Veronica is currently not a playable unit in Fire Emblem Heroes. This makes Dragalia Lost the first game where base Veronica is playable.
  • While Veronica's age is never explicitly stated, the Radiant Dawn incarnation of Sanaki says she is the same age as her. As Sanaki is 13 in Radiant Dawn, that would make Veronica 13 as well.
