This game is very overrated and I feel like people give it too much praise, especially those who grew up with it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good game, but I feel like the games that succeeded this was far better. The graphics haven’t aged well (except the iconic Mario model) but they were impressive at the time, and the controls are weird for today’s standards. Hey, At least we got iconic Mario stages like Bob-omb Battlefield, Whomp’s Fortress, and more.

7. '''Super Mario 64 DS'''

Super Mario 64 DS is the definitive way to play Super Mario 64, well kind of, I will get to that in a sec. This game added tons of new content, including new bosses, new levels, and new characters, like Yoshi, Wario, and the most OP of them all, Luigi. Unfortunately, it almost isn’t the definitive way since the controls kind of suck. The original game had you control with a stick. This 3D game uses a d-pad, which is far from ideal. You can play on the 3DS, which has a Circle Pad, but this game was made for the DS. Not the 3DS. It’s higher than the original because of the content it added, and this is how remakes should be like with good controls.

6. '''Super Mario 3D Land'''

Now we are getting into the masterpieces that were very hard to rank. Super Mario 3D Land is a 3D game that plays like a 2D game, and it is just fun, from the beginning to the end. The final boss also is one of the best final boss battles the Mario series has ever had. Although completing the game 100% is frustrating, and levels are reused with different stuff added, the 16 worlds are still plenty of fun. If you own a 3DS and don’t have this game, What the hell is wrong with you?😒

”Why is Galaxy 2 so low?” You may ask. In my opinion, I think that Galaxy 2 was kind of easier than the original game, and the music isn’t as memorable as the original. The advantages over the original is that it introduces Yoshi, which adds more fun to the gameplay than it already was, and Green stars were added, so the replay ability was increased. Still, this is a masterpiece that is worth all your time.

4. '''Super Mario Sunshine'''

Super Mario Sunshine was and still is kind of overshadowed by Super Mario 64. People whines and criticized this game saying “Its not like Super Mario 64!” I am sorry, but can I just say that why is most of the Nintendo fan base never thankful? These type of people always get on my nerves. These were same people that were saying to kill the 3DS. Just watch the Nintendo NYC reaction for the Nintendo Direct 3.8.2018 and you will know exactly what I am talking about. Anyways, during the GameCube era, Nintendo was experimenting with their franchises, and this game is a perfect example. This game is similar to Super Mario 64, but now with FLUDD. Also, it’s set on a beach, and there is also a nice little plot with voice acting and all.

3. '''Super Mario 3D World '''

Super Mario 3D World is a hidden gem still shipwrecked on the Wii U. Its a sequel to 3D Land on the 3DS, and adds four new characters; Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Rosalina. They also have their advantages and disadvantages like Super Mario Bros 2. The levels are really fun, the music is amazing, and the graphics are fantastic. I do not understand why Nintendo chose to port “New Super Mario Bros U” and not this. I hope this game finds a new home on the Switch soon.

Super Mario Galaxy is phenomenal. This is one of the best looking Wii games with such memorable gameplay and music. No more words, this game is really great, and if I tried, I would end up writing 15 paragraphs.

Super Mario Odyssey was the second game I got on my Nintendo Switch, and as soon as I started, I couldn’t stop playing. Cappy is such a fun new addition and a game changer, and contributes to what makes this game the best of the best.

This is based on my opinion and is a little tiny bit biased. It was also very hard to rank.

8. Super Mario 64 This game is very overrated and I feel like people give it too much praise, especially those who grew up with it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good game, but I feel like the games that succeeded this was far better. Hey, At least we got iconic Mario stages like Bob-omb Battlefield, Whomp’s Fortress, and more.
