Urbosa (JP), is a character in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. She is the former Chief and Champion of the Gerudo, and the pilot of the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. As a Champion, she is affiliated with Link and the Royal Family of Hyrule, and wears a skirt crafted by Zelda in the color of the Royal family to represent her title. She returns in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

Urbosa is also capable of unleashing an incredible destructive power that allows her to control lightning, which had come to be known as Urbosa's Fury and wields the Scimitar of the Seven as well as the Daybreaker.

Personality[]

Strong and courageous, Urbosa is often determined to protect Hyrule in the wake of Calamity Ganon's return, even though her people did object to her piloting Vah Naboris as they thought was unfit for a Gerudo Chief, which she does understand. Her motivation to stopping Ganon stemmed from a hatred towards the monster for once taking on the form of a Gerudo, which left a mark on her people. Which is why she has a huge respect for his former second in command, Nabooru, whose efforts to oppose Calamity Ganon have had a huge positive impact on her people in the following generations, having gone from a brutal reclusive gang of thieves, to living a more decent life and engaging in foreign trade with other races. Because of what Nabooru had done, the Divine Beast was named to honor her legacy, and Urbosa had strove to ensure that the relations with other races and the Hyrulean Royal Family did not sour and remain loyal, even if something happened to her when she is out to battle Calamity Ganon.

Urbosa is an honorable warrior with a fierce disposition and seems to prefer facing her opponents head-on, as opposed to disguising and using sneak attacks as the Yiga Clan often do and will never back down from a battle no matter how tough it gets. She is sometimes willing to spare her enemies out of Zelda's respect when she dueled with two Yiga Clan Footsoldiers and easily defeated them, all without taking a life. In the Guardian of Remembrance DLC, Urbosa had resorted to killing the monsters out of necessity as they were cornering King Rhoam and his royal guard as to prevent the king from losing his life and Zelda from losing a father, and she states that the loss of Hyrule's king would drastically drop Hyrule's morale and adds that Zelda had become stronger than even that of her own mother.

Urbosa holds a motherly disposition, which is very notable in her relationship with the Queen of Hyrule and her daughter Princess Zelda. She is noted to have been longtime friends with the queen and quickly became fond of her infant daughter and she is endeared by her unconditional love for her child as she called her "little bird" quite often and eventually picked it up. She was greatly devastated when the queen suddenly perishes from unknown circumstances. She is observant and insightful when she noticed that Zelda never cried during her mother's funeral and worries for her well-being considering that the princess didn't just lose a mother, she lost a teacher as well, who would have trained her to awaken her sealing power, not helped that Ganon would eventually return in their lifetime. When Urbosa meets her again, she grew worried about her during one of her training sessions where she prayed nonstop in the freezing spring, disregarding Urbosa's urgings to cease when she noticed signs of passing out and pulled her out where she held her close when Zelda finally broke down upon coming to. Despite not knowing how accessing sealing power works, Urbosa still became Zelda's mother figure throughout her life, comforting and providing sagely advice to her when needed. She sometimes likes to tease others, primarily Link and Zelda such as when she used Urbosa's Fury to scare Zelda awake and the latter's reaction causing her to laugh in amusement, to the princess's confusion. She was also amused at the sight of Terrako and Impa getting into a fight at one point. In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Urbosa is very caring towards Riju upon first meeting her when she came from the future to save her from Thunderblight Ganon's killing blow; Riju's self-doubt about her competence and level of strength shows itself due to being crowned chieftain at a young age in the wake of her mother's death; which Urbosa reacts by comforting her and lets her know that she gave enough time for help to arrive and reminds her that she would have died if she hadn't come. When Urbosa does get frustrated at one point, it was Riju who tells her off about that, which puts Urbosa in a better mood.

Urbosa is also motherly to the other Champions as well and noticed how Link, Princess Zelda, Mipha, and Revali are so young and recognizes them as Hyrule's future and she and Daruk wants them to understand that, and it's also shown when paired with any of them in Age of Calamity. She has a good comradeship with Link and is willing to support him just as she supports the princess, and she does help him understand what Zelda goes through on a daily basis, and when Zelda resorts to exploiting Gerudo law that males can't enter Gerudo Town, she teaches Link the trick of disguise as a woman to go around town without being kicked out. Even after her death, she tells Link that Zelda should not carry the blame for the loss of her and the other Champions and reminds him to look after her and Hyrule. She doesn't have much interaction with Mipha, besides being teammates, yet each of them respects one another at various points. She is also good companions with Daruk and each of them take part as parental figures to keep the younger Champions in line. Urbosa and Revali's relationship is a hit and miss regarding their personalities and how they view things. From Urbosa's perspective, her close relationship with Zelda and awareness of her situation had her connecting the dots on why Zelda is unfriendly with Link to the point of avoiding and snapping at him, and quickly deduces that the latter is a reminder of her past failures. From Revali's perspective, he hasn't met Link up until they became Champions, so he knew that Princess Zelda is still working towards her goal and only knew that Link is an accomplished swordsman since childhood, who even won against adults, and he was chosen to fight Ganon directly just because he has the Master Sword. Urbosa is usually the one who puts an end to Revali's harshness towards Link and insists that he should leave him alone or when he is acting rude in general and the most successful at getting him to stop his behavior. Regardless, when they aren't conflicting, Revali respects her fighting prowess when it was due and views her as a worthy opponent in battle; and Urbosa doesn't truly dislike Revali and cares a great deal about him, and when Teba saw Revali's abrasiveness, she managed to tell him to keep it to himself before he could say anything hurtful.

Appearance[]

BotW Urbosa Artwork

Urbosa's appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Urbosa has every feature that Gerudo are typically known for having; red hair, dark skin, and a muscular frame; the Gerudo in her generation as well as those during the events of Breath of the Wild have green eyes instead of yellow and Urbosa is no exception. She wears her hair in a ponytail that his held up by a green and gold band and wears blue lipstick. Her top that covers her chest has a flower impression with the colors green, yellow, red, blue, and black with the metal shoulder pads and buckle on her green and yellow anklets to match and has green heels on her feet. She has golden bracelets and gold and dark red crescent moon shaped earrings dangling from her ears and a gold belt around her waist that are attached to her skirts with desert flower patterns with the buckle having a red Gerudo symbol. As a Champion, Urbosa wears the blue skirt with the ornaments being at the top and bears the white Divine Beast Vah Naboris symbol on it. As the Gerudo Chief, Urbosa sported a black skirt with the Gerudo emblem and has gold and red ornaments that hang from the bottom rather than the top and has her gold Gerudo crown on her head.

History[]

End of the Timelines[]

100 years before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild[]

Urbosa takes up writing a diary when the Queen of Hyrule pays her a visit which the Gerudo Chief is always happy to see her, and she delivered the news that she had recently gave birth to her baby girl, whom she named Zelda. Urbosa saw how the infant smile resembled her mother's which Urbosa grew to cherish her and told the her that she might grow into a dignified and beautiful queen, though the queen insists that she rather see her new daughter blessed with true joy. Urbosa notes that the queen's gaze at her daughter and calling her little bird in a loving manner was that of a true mother's unconditional love which Urbosa had never seen until this point.

Six years pass and Urbosa recalls the dismal day when the queen, her dear friend, had passed away and it was only then that she was willing to write again. She was still in disbelief that the queen was well and truly gone and was left haunted by the sweet memories of the queen and to this day, she's still fragile over it. She observed how Zelda, who is six years old, never cried during the funeral when she gave her mother her last good-bye, and while she commends that she carried herself like a princess was expected to do, Urbosa can't help but worry about the deep-rooted grief that would continue to plague her in the coming years, especially since her mother had not taught her about accessing her sealing magic which would become critical.

A year passed, and Urbosa had the will to go to Hyrule Castle to meet with King Rhoam and she saw Zelda, now seven years old, for the first time since the funeral. The reason for her arrival was out of concern for the princess and the king allowed Urbosa to accompany his daughter to the spring to begin her training. Zelda prayed for hours on end in the spring's freezing water until the sun set. Urbosa saw something off with Zelda and she urged her to cease her training, but she doesn't listen. Eventually, Princess Zelda finally passed out from the cold and exhaustion, forcing Urbosa to take her out of the spring. When the princess came around, she looked at Urbosa in sheer despair for a long time. She explains the excess panic and pressure of not being able to fulfil her sacred duty that she was going through and recites the mantra of why she couldn't succeed where her ancestors have and wanted to know where she was going wrong. The least Urbosa had to do was hold her close, hoping it was enough.

Nine years have passed, and the emissaries from Hyrule came to see her to ask if she is willing to pilot Divine Beast Vah Naboris as Calamity Ganon is gradually making its return. Her people aren't comfortable with the idea of their chief taking up a dangerous task, believing it wasn't fitting for someone like her. While she understood their concerns, she still intends on accepting her calling. Ganon's threat would not just threaten Hyrule, but the entire world and she would sit in the sidelines. Additionally, Ganon was associated with the Gerudo, the fact that she hated with a passion. She suspects that Princess Zelda, who is now sixteen years old, will also be coming to receive her official answer and she is excited to see her again as always.

Urbosa fighting the Yiga Footsoldiers

Princess Zelda arrived at Gerudo Town with her female attendants (as male soldiers are forbidden to enter the town) to inquire of her to become the Gerudo Champion who will pilot Divine Beast Vah Naboris. Urbosa immediately accepts her call due to the Gerudo's long time enemy, the Yiga Clan, aiming to revive Calamity Ganon but are also coming after her treasured heirloom, the Thunder Helm. She vows that she won't rest until the Calamity is defeated. Princess thanks her on behalf of her father and Hyrule. Later that night, Urbosa and Zelda stroll outside of town where the princess notes that she never saw the former sounding so serious before. Urbosa couldn't say so herself and adds that ten years ago, Zelda had seldom smiled while nicknaming her "little bird". Zelda is familiarized with this name and wondered where she got it from and noticed that Urbosa suddenly stopped walking when she saw two suspicious travelers walking in the opposite direction. She tells them to face her and states that unlike then, she rather faces her foes head on and turns around, brandishing her Scimitar of the Seven and Daybreaker as she turns around and dares them to come at her. The travelers reveal themselves to be Yiga Footsoldiers as they charge at the Chieftain. While they've put up a fight, they were no match for Urbosa and she managed to down one of them and Zelda warns of another Footsoldier attempting to attack Urbosa from behind, but the Gerudo snaps her fingers, landing a shock on him. She spares their lives out of respect of Hyrule's princess and barks at them to leave. Once they're gone, Urbosa returns to the subject about Zelda asking about where she got the nickname from and explains that a dear friend of hers had called her that when Zelda was very young. Zelda deduces that she was talking about her mother, the late Queen of Hyrule. Urbosa goes on to say that the queen's "little bird" still spread her wings and became Hyrule's beacon of light and hope that Hyrule needed and adds that she herself sometimes loses herself and gets lost in the past.

The Champion Photo

The Picture of the Champions

Urbosa attends the Champion inauguration ceremony alongside Link, Mipha, Daruk, and Revali where King Rhoam appoints them official Champions of Hyrule, and Princess Zelda bestows upon the blue cloths for each of them. Urbosa swaps out her crown and chieftain's skirt and replaces them with the new blue skirt around her waist. After the ceremony ends, Urbosa and the others are hanging out at the gazebo just outside the castle. Revali takes interest in Zelda's Sheikah Slate and pries it from her hands to examine it, as the princess explains that it has many uses, yet there are still secrets that await discovery, before he passes it to Mipha to let her have a look. Urbosa notes that Zelda showed her how the Slate can actually take pictures, which grabs Mipha's attention and asks Zelda for a favor. Soon Purah has the Champions gathered on one spot and instructs most of the subjects to get into position, once everything is satisfactory, Purah snaps the photo, but Daruk pulls everyone in at the last moment resulting in a goofy outcome.

Urbosa documents the events of the inauguration ceremony alongside the other Champions that she shares the same fate with. She notes that most of them, Link, Zelda, Revali, and Mipha are very young and are the future of Hyrule and she and Daruk hope to help them understand that. Urbosa was disturbed to see that Zelda was uncharacteristically cold and ill-tempered with Link and she can imagine why. When she also learns that Link will be assigned as her personal knight and hopes that the two will find a way to establish a better relationship.

In order to prove herself worthy of controlling Vah Naboris, Urbosa has to undergo three trials that consists of her battling the powerful Molduking, surfing the sands to pass through the glowing rings, and throwing an orb into the pit at the Yiga Clan Hideout.

Urbosa is present with the other Champions at Link's personal ceremony where he is appointed as Zelda's personal knight. She isn't pleased with the despondent tone she was giving in her speech and even less pleased when Revali makes a complaint about the depressing sight as well as him being on the same page as the princess regarding Link. She stops his insolence and tells him that Zelda sees Link as a reminder of her own failures, which is how the princess sees him at the moment, and later becomes aware of the tension between Link and Princess Zelda as a result.

Link made a request to see Urbosa to let her know that Zelda took advantage of the Gerudo Town law that prohibits men like himself from entering town to escape from him. Urbosa tells Link of a trick that would allow him to slip in undetected, but by this time, Zelda had vanished. She promises Link that he will let him know if the princess turns up, and Link hesitantly headed home. Urbosa saw that Link had some trouble expressing himself and figures that the two will find a way to help each other, if Zelda was willing to at least give him a chance.

Urbosa with Zelda

Princess Zelda sleeping next to Urbosa

Urbosa notified Link of Princess Zelda's location at Divine Beast Vah Naboris and he arrives quicker than she expected, much less to her surprise for an appointed knight. Princess Zelda is sleeping peacefully against Urbosa's arms and Urbosa explains that her latest all-day survey had drained her of physical energy and asks how him and the princess are getting along, and quickly understands that it wasn't going well, considering that Link was skilled at a young age and even pulled the Master Sword, while she still has yet to reach her goal, to awaken her sealing power required to defeat Calamity Ganon, which made her feel like a failure in comparison. She goes further to explain that she had been so dedicated to her time in her training to access her power, once to the point where she passed out in the freezing water during one of her training sessions. Urbosa is sympathetic to Zelda's situation and states that she'd be doing the same thing and adds that she is quite special. She then reminds Link to protect her with his life as it's quite the honor to guard an important person from the Royal Family. As the temperatures in the desert starts to drop, Urbosa is about to take her in, but has another idea and snaps her fingers to unleash Urbosa's Fury that strikes the land, scaring Zelda awake. The princess notices and asks what he is doing here, causing Urbosa to laugh at her confusion, which the princess asks what was funny.

Urbosa recorded these events on the diary that she accompanied Zelda as she did her survey on Vah Naboris, and at sundown, the princess had drifted to sleep. This gave Urbosa the opportunity to let Link know about it and he made it there quicker than she expected. While it wasn't any of her business, she had to share some information about the princess's ongoing issues in hopes to set them in the right direction and left the rest of it up to them.

Several days go by, Urbosa is pleased to see that Zelda is smiling a lot more than she used to and deduced that she and Link are now on good terms. She hopes it will have a better impact on her training, but she is concerned that they are running out of time and the recent events of increased monster attacks and strange events occurring doesn't help with it. All she could do at the moment was pray that Zelda has enough time, not to the goddesses but to her late friend and mother of the princess, whom she still missed.

Link Zelda and The Champions

Urbosa and the Champions bear witness to Calamity Ganon's return

Urbosa is with the other Champions at the East Gate to meet with the returning Link and Princess Zelda. Sadly, not even a trip to Mt. Lanayru where the Spring of Wisdom had done anything to unlock her power. Upon receiving the bad news, Urbosa insists that she must move on, as Zelda's self-pity does nothing to help with anything and they must find something else that can as anything can ignite this power. When Mipha attempts to give Zelda advice, she is interrupted by a sudden rumble, causing Revali to fly up to find out what is happening and soon comes down after seeing Ganon present at Hyrule Castle. Daruk takes control of the situation and orders the Champions to head to their Divine Beasts and Link to Hyrule Castle. Urbosa urges Zelda to go somewhere safe, but Zelda refuses and insists that she has to do something regardless of whether or not she had her power.

However, neither Urbosa, nor the other Champions are seen again after that. Her route to Vah Naboris consists of her rushing her way along the southern edges of Hyrule Field and goes through Gerudo Canyon and climbs her way up. When she arrived, she saw that Vah Naboris was overtaken by Thunderblight Ganon. Despite being quickly sealed inside and a fierce battle to drive it away, she loses her life trying to fend it off and the other Champions also didn't make it with the other Blights. After Zelda gains her dormant power, she seals Ganon away for a while to end the disaster. The Gerudo are devastated by the loss of their Gerudo Chieftain and the Thunder Helm and an heir who took her place as the new chief.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild[]

During Breath of the Wild, Calamity Ganon's power increases to the point where it can only take remote control of the Divine Beasts and cause havoc among the corresponding tribes. In Naboris's case, it walked along the desert, creating sandstorms and generating lightning at anyone who wanders near, and if it came to Gerudo Town, it would cause disaster for the inhabitance. When Link arrived disguised as a woman, he meets Riju, who needs help in retrieving the Thunder Helm, which was stolen the Yiga Clan, and she needs it to withstand Naboris's lightning strikes and asks Link to get it back. Once Link does so, after a battle that had resulted in Master Kohga's death, Riju and Link team up to appease Vah Naboris by pursuing it by seal-surfing. After ending its rampage, Link boards it as Riju wishes him luck.

Upon arrival, Urbosa became aware of Link's presence, telling him that he knew how to keep a woman waiting and she is eager to have Naboris brought back to Hyrule's side. She instructs him to the Guidance Stone where a map can be distilled to the Sheikah Slate and then instructs him to find the terminals of Vah Naboris and each terminal he activated has Urbosa encouraging him to push forward. With all five terminals activated, Urbosa tells Link to start the Main Control Unit and cautions him about getting too overconfident. When Link attempts to activate it, Thunderblight Ganon appears and Urbosa warns him to stay on his guard as he is facing the monster that took her life 100 years ago and tells him to fight, not only for his life, but the beast's death.

Urbosa's Fury

Urbosa grants Link her power.

After Thunderblight Ganon is vanquished, Link is able to start the Main Control Unit. Urbosa's spirit appears and tells him that she knows that he would not let them down and commends his skill that set them free. She then blessed Link with her divine power, Urbosa's Fury, in form of a glowing yellow orb, to help him take out his foes more easily. Urbosa understood how he and Zelda had suffered because of the loss of the Champions, but she accepts that it was how things had to happen and no one has to carry the blame and tells Link to reassure the princess that. As Link is being warped out by a golden light, Urbosa tells him to take care of the princess and by extension, Hyrule.

She then commanded Vah Naboris to its firing position on Spectacle Rock, Urbosa reveals the namesake of Vah Naboris, the ancient Sage of spirit, Nabooru as one of the most influential people who made a difference on the Gerudo and Hyrule. She is still bitter over her defeat 100 years ago, though it is all in the past. Recalling the legends that Calamity Ganon once took on the form of a certain male Gerudo, she goes on that this fact made her fight against it more personal and it will be satisfying when she is through. Once the lock is established, it is up to Link to keep it busy until she and Naboris make their strike and gladly looks forward to this moment with a laugh.

Urbosa's spirit appears when Link unleashes a charged Spin Attack, utilizing Urbosa's Fury, by snapping her fingers. She will let Link know when Urbosa's Fury is fully charged.

When The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack is active, Urbosa's Diary will appear in Riju's room in her palace. Once the EX Champion Urbosa's Song is completed, Urbosa's voice chimes in, telling Link that he is an impressive man and allows him to use Urbosa's Fury more often and she calls him the pride of Hyrule and leaves the princess in his capable hands.

Urbosa will provide Link additional dialogue, if he chooses to repeat his fight with Thunderblight Ganon. In the first dialogue, Urbosa tells him that he has given Hyrule so much and she has a request for him. If he finds her diary somewhere, he must show it to Zelda since it has a section about her lost mother, how her death was sudden and had to leave her behind and thinks of how hard it wounded her. In the second dialogue, Urbosa sees that Link has returned and notes of his boundless determination and asks him about how he got inside Gerudo Town, and suspects that he wore the traditional Gerudo clothing to get past the guards. She commends his quick thinking, telling him that he looked lovely in it and should show it to Zelda sometime. In the third dialogue, Urbosa acknowledges that he is skilled and assumes that he enjoyed his time in Gerudo Town, though she wonders who the current chief is. Since her death 100 years ago, it had been very hard on her people, but she knows them well and she knows that they can overcome any hardships that face them. In the fourth dialogue, Urbosa addresses his burdens that lie on his shoulders regarding the fate of Princess Zelda and Hyrule, but she doesn't doubt once that he will prevail and assures him that he is the most courageous voe she has ever known. When Calamity Ganon falls, Urbosa intends on sharing her treasured memories of the princess with the latter's mother and will assure her that she is in good hands. In the fifth and final dialogue, Urbosa is amazed to see that Link and his abilities have not aged, though she warns him not to let his guard down as neither of them want to see the princess cry.

When Link finally faced the monster, she along with the other Champions fired a devastating laser beam in order to weaken Ganon allowing Link to destroy the physical form of the beast. Urbosa notes that it was a hundred years in the making and assures Zelda that their moment has finally arrived. When he eventually frees Princess Zelda, who wastes no time in sealing Ganon away, finally ending his threat to the land, Urbosa and the Champions, especially King Rhoam are seen above Hyrule Castle quietly giving their good-byes as they depart for the afterlife, having finally fulfilled their earthly duties as Link and Princess Zelda work on Hyrule's restoration.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[]

The Calamity is Averted[]

A small Guardian named Terrako, who hailed from the dark future of Hyrule, travels back in time to warn Link, Princess Zelda, and the Champions on what is to come and change the course of history into a brighter one. However, Ganon's Malice had pursued it on its way to the past where it possesses the Terrako from another timeline, becoming Harbinger Ganon and begins to cause the battling warriors much trouble.

Urbosa and the party

Urbosa and the party prepare for battle.

Urbosa is the strong wise Chieftain of Gerudo Town who was an old friend of Princess Zelda's late mother, who acts as Zelda's mother figure since the queen's death. While Urbosa is away, Master Kohga, the leader of the Yiga Clan impersonates Urbosa and managed to trick the Gerudo into attacking Princess Zelda and her friends when they try to recruit Urbosa to pilot Divine Beast Vah Naboris. Only one of the Gerudo Captains noticed something off about Urbosa, and it wasn't until the real Urbosa returned to expose the fake one as Kohga, and shows the Gerudo vai who the real Chieftain was. She rallies the Gerudo guards to drive the Yiga Clan out of town and uses her knowledge of the Molduga's superior hearing to her advantage by using Remote Bombs to draw over its attention to really scare them away. They battled Master Kohga for a while before Sooga arrives to take him out of the battle and managed to escape before Urbosa could stop them. With the dust cleared, Urbosa agrees to become Vah Naboris's pilot out of her devotion to the Royal Family of Hyrule and a powerful grudge she held against Calamity Ganon's history for once being a member of her people who lead a war against Hyrule in ages past. She is especially miffed over the fact that some of the members of the Sheikah tribe have betrayed Hyrule in favor of Ganon, becoming the Yiga Clan, which Impa, also a Sheikah, is upset about.

After the four Champions are gathered, Princess Zelda takes them to calibrate their Divine Beasts to allow for easier use, but during their travels, they are ambushed in Castle Town by Sooga, the Yiga Clan, and Ganon's monsters. Link takes the princess and retreats while Urbosa and the other Champions push back the hostiles with their own armies and the Hylian Captains, but the Hinox they fought with was only a decoy, so Sooga could get at Zelda himself, but was stopped by Link, forcing Sooga to call a retreat.

Urbosa interacts with her friends

Urbosa accepts her calling.

Urbosa remains a close confidant with Princess Zelda and acts as a voice of reason that keeps everyone together. They head to Korok Forest where it was infested by monsters, and she would proceed to stand up to Revali when he starts dissing at Link and question his leadership before summoning Divine Beast Vah Medoh to destroy the giant monsters and outposts before letting them know it's safe to proceed into the forest and joins them. During their expedition, Mipha makes a statement about the fog, prompting Revali to complain about possibly walking in circles and Daruk replies that someone could fly up to find the way. An irritated Revali retorts that he cannot see from above and scolds him for acting before thinking. Urbosa steps in, saying that getting lost is the least of their worries and they should worry about a possible ambush. They soon meet Hestu, the music loving Korok, who had been trying to get their attention for a full minute.

The Champions in the forest

Expedition in the forest.

Hestu offers to guide the group into the right way but is worried about the monsters that are inhabiting the forest. Revali remarks that he can get past the monsters if he wasn't carrying his maracas around, but Urbosa tells Hestu not to mind him and offer to protect him on their way and Hestu happily leads the way. They encounter strange pools of Malice in the forest and had to deal with Astor's Hollows; Malice copies of Urbosa and the other three Champions. They are soon too far away to help Link and Princess Zelda, who made it into the clearing and are dealing with Astor and the Hollows. Link's sword is destroyed by a Mipha Hollow before she charges at Zelda with the other three, under Astor's orders to kill her. Link acts by pulling the Master Sword that emits light and dispels the Hollows and uses it to battle Astor, who would then flee upon realizing how powerful the Blade of Evil's Bane was. Urbosa, Mipha, Daruk, and Revali arrive at the clearing where they listen to the words of the Great Deku Tree, who tells them that they are ready for what lies ahead and Princess Zelda saw that Link had gotten stronger while she was still left in the dust since she could not awaken her power, and the Great Deku Tree senses her worries and consoles her that she shouldn't lose hope.

Beyond this point, Princess Zelda becomes more anxious of her dormant power and the weight of her responsibilities and a looming disaster that she has to deal with. They make their way back to Hyrule Castle, despite some disruptions with a big number of monsters to take out. After the battle, she then gives a pep talk to the pessimistic Zelda, who is troubled by her own lack of success after seeing Link accomplish a milestone. After these events, Urbosa, Link, Revali, Mipha, and Daruk are dubbed official Champions of Hyrule and are bestowed with blue cloths to signify their status. Urbosa swaps out her Chieftain's crown and Gerudo skirt and begins wearing her blue skirt with the Vah Naboris symbol on it. The Champions are outside, relaxing after a long day and Urbosa becomes amused when Terrako and Impa get into an argument.

Urbosa speaking to Purah

Urbosa with Purah, Link, and Princess Zelda.

Urbosa participates in driving the Yiga Clan out of Akkala Citadel, in spite of them trying to slow them down and upon learning the location of the Yiga Clan Hideout, she pilots Vah Naboris to obliterate the Yiga forces to allow the group entry to destroy them from within. After that, Urbosa and her friends return to their homes to prepare for the worst, while King Rhoam, upon learning that Ganon will return on Zelda's 17th birthday, issues evacuation orders to the civilians to keep the number of casualties down and sends the Hyrulean soldiers to Akkala Citadel and Fort Hateno to provide reinforcements at the garrisons. Should any of the two strongholds fall, Hyrule will also be subjected to this fate.

On the day that Calamity Ganon is set to return, Purah and Robbie do some digging into Terrako's memories, when the "researchers" who turned out to be Yiga Footsoldiers, take them hostage. This prompts Purah to throw the Sheikah Slate to Terrako, ordering it to bring it to Zelda to show her the images of what they found, and it does so. Princess Zelda, Link, and Impa prepare to head for Mt. Lanayru's Spring of Wisdom in hopes that it would bear fruit and awaken her sealing power, but their journey is quicky intercepted by Calamity Ganon's broken seal and Hyrule Castle is soon surrounded by Malice. Urbosa witnesses these events, noting that they had been taken by surprise, and the Sheikah Towers are soon powered down, cutting her off from the other Champions leaving them to fend for themselves. Urbosa then boards Vah Naboris to counterattack against the beast, but as she did, she is confronted by Thunderblight Ganon and they began to duel and Urbosa deflected its attacks and is quickly pushed to the defensive, realizing that she is fighting a losing battle. She is eventually pushed to the lower levels of Vah Naboris and is soon kneels in fatigue as Thunderblight rushes at her to deliver the killing blow, but then a time portal appears and Riju and her sand seal Patricia ram into Thunderblight Ganon just in time and Urbosa is astonished by this, and Riju insists that they stay focused on the fight.

Riju saves Urbosa's life

Riju saves Urbosa’s life.

They eventually begin struggling again and Riju frets that she thought she was strong enough, but Urbosa assures her that her support had brought them more time for Link and his friends to assist them. Link is able to force Thunderblight into retreat and Riju joins them while Urbosa stays behind to recover from the fight and used Vah Naboris's lightning to destroy a large boulder on Mount Rhoam to release an updraft so Link, Riju, Zelda, and Impa can paraglide their way up to Vah Medoh to help rescue Revali and Teba from Windblight Ganon. With Revali and Teba making it out alive, Urbosa and Riju joins them on Vah Medoh to thank the group, including the young Gerudo Chief, for their help. Revali also thanks Link, but in a slightly rude tone, which surprises Teba and was about to give out his thoughts about Revali before Urbosa tells him to hold back before he could say something he would regret later. She then asks Princess Zelda about what happened at the castle and the princess agrees to explain. Windblight Ganon is obliterated by Revali and Teba while they are taking out the armies in the western reaches of Hyrule.

Riju and Urbosa after defending the Royal Ancient Lab

During the Guardian of Remembrance DLC, Urbosa and Riju bring their Gerudo soldiers to protect the Science Academy at the moment when Ganon attacked them. After that, Urbosa praises Riju for her use of the Thunder Helm despite it not fitting well on her head and Riju is about to explain her duties, Master Kohga swipes it out of Riju's fingers and places it on his top knot and gloats that Urbosa that her power is pointless against him, only for her to prove him wrong by shocking him with her fury making him lose the helm so Riju can get it back. Kohga is appalled by how it did not work for him, and Urbosa hisses that it would take him a hundred years for him to master the helm. A furious Kohga retorts that even if it did, he will eventually have it before vanishing.

Urbosa takes Riju and Vah Naboris to defend Fort Hateno from large armies of monsters in the surround area. They are soon overwhelmed by them, but thankfully, Mipha and Sidon with Vah Ruta, Daruk and Yunobo with Vah Rudania, and Revali and Teba with Vah Medoh arrive to back them up. It was there that Princess Zelda finally activates her power to protect Link from Astor and the resurrected Blight Ganons and Purah would then turn on the failsafe to disable the corrupted Guardians that made up the main part of Ganon's army, giving Hyrule the upper hand over the beast. It is revealed that the more desperate Astor had betrayed the Yiga Clan by sacrificing their spirits to revive the Blights and resulted in the clan defecting to the side of the Hyruleans. It's also revealed that King Rhoam had lived on thanks to the Ancient Guardian Shield that he used to deflect the lasers that would have cut his life short, and he and his Royal Guard escaped the castle before the automations recovered. Later, as King Rhoam and his Royal Guard are trapped by the Moblins and other monsters and are starting to lose their strength, Urbosa and her Gerudo vai soldiers intervene in time, yelling "The King of Hyrule must not fall!" as they obliterate them all, refusing to let them die. Rhoam apologizes for bringing her much trouble, which Urbosa replies that his death would not only have a negative impact on Hyrule's morale, but it would also have costed Zelda a father as well and further goes on to say that his daughter is looking for him at the Great Plateau and even said that Zelda's wings had grown strong and perhaps more so than her own mother. Rhoam thanks her as he heads for the Great Plateau and the Temple of Time to wait for her there, leaving Urbosa to mull over the fact that Zelda's efforts have not been in vain.

Riju and Urbosa await orders

Purah got the Sheikah Towers back in working order and summons the Hylian, Sheikah, Zora, Goron, Rito, Gerudo, and the Yiga Clan, uniting them all against Ganon's forces despite the active Blood Moon that kept reviving them. They charge into Hyrule Castle, where Astor and Harbinger Ganon awaited them.

The heroes managed to completely destroy the Blight Ganons for good and have also defeated Harbinger Ganon and Astor, who was noticeably unhinged from being pushed past his limits. He goes to order Ganon to destroy all the heroes, but as Sooga had forewarned earlier, Ganon does not answer to anyone and instead consumes Astor and some of its Malice possessed Terrako, leaving Link and the princess no choice but to fight it. Terrako is eventually damaged and Urbosa along with the other Champions mourn its condition and its lullaby allows Zelda to recall her full childhood with it. The vengeful Zelda vows to never give up and becomes determined to make sure that Ganon falls before they make their way to the sanctum where Calamity Ganon awaiting them. At first, Ganon kept on easily brushing off their attacks and Zelda resorts to an attempt to seal it, but Terrako is revived by her power and rushes up the stairs and tosses itself between her and Ganon, destroying itself and Ganon's invincibility in the process. They are now able to use conventional attacks to take down Ganon, with Link using the Master Sword to cleave it and Zelda seals it away with plenty of effort and peace returns to Hyrule. Riju, Teba, Yunobo, and Prince Sidon are soon returned back to their timeline, but not before they say good-bye to their predecessors and Zelda wishing them light in their future for all time.

Urbosa then participates in the reconstruction of Terrako with the warriors by gathering its fifty components and brought them to Purah and Robbie at the Royal Ancient Lab where Terrako is rebuilt. At first, it seemed unsuccessful at it didn't seem to respond and Revali assures them that its likely waking up, which Impa agrees and tries to wake it up by smacking it before Zelda stops her and stands in front of it. Terrako then becomes functional, to the Champions' relief and is reunited with the princess once more. In the ending following Terrako's revival, it travels to Gerudo Town where it was attacked by the monsters, but Urbosa shocks them all and greets it before it moves on. She appears again with the other Champions at Hyrule Castle where Daruk pulls them in for a hug.

During the DLC ending, Urbosa and Riju can be seen sand seal-surfing together across Gerudo Desert and having fun as they go and eventually joins the other Champions, present and future where they talk among themselves and Terrako entertaining them. Sometime later, Urbosa and the other Champion Pilots are at the top of a Sheikah Tower, all back into their original attire as their missions were completed, where they witness Zelda and Terrako float away on a paraglider, admiring the beauty of Hyrule as they go, and she notes that it was the kingdom worth saving, no longer an anxious teenager and now a more carefree and upbeat young woman.
