He was known by the Nintendo community as the voice of both the narrator, various Pokémon species and Professor Oak in Pokémon the Series and their movies. In addition to that, he regularly appeared in both the Japanese and English-language versions of the anime.
Ishizuka is recognized outside Nintendo for his portrayal of Mr. Satan in Dragon Ball, Heihachi Mishima in Tekken, Van Hohenheim in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Zabuza Momochi in Naruto, Ginzo Nakamori in Detective Conan, Old Joseph Joestar in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Kizaru in One Piece.
On August 17, 2018, it was reported that Ishizuka had died on August 13 due to esophageal cancer, which meant that his roles as Incineroar, Venusaur, Metagross and Heihachi Mishima in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate were some of his last.[1] After his death, Kenyu Horiuchi took over the role of Professor Oak. Several Nintendo works such as Dragalia Lost, Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution and several Pokémon the Series episodes served as his posthumous credits.
