Toby Fox (born October 11, 1991) is an American game developer and composer widely known for his work in the hit indie game Undertale. He later developed Deltarune.

Fox has rearranged the "MEGALOVANIA" music track from the game in Ultimate, which is available after the Sans Mii Fighter costume was purchased. Next to Grant Kirkhope, he is the series' only other composer who is not from Japan; he's also the first U.S.-born citizen to do such. In addition, Fox was also the main composer of Game Freak's Little Town Hero, along with Hitomi Sato. He also composed one track for Pokémon Sword and Shield. He is composing some new tracks for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Fox visited Masahiro Sakurai and played Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with him at his house, to which Sakurai praised his skills and said that he's "probably the strongest" of all his visitors.
    • Fox himself stated on Twitter that he was "shocked" about the mentioning of his visit during the Nintendo Direct September 2019 Presentation. Additionally, he expressed that despite lacking a translator and his poor Japanese-speaking skills, "...[it] was one of the most surreal (and fun) experiences of my life..."
      • Interestingly, Fox had a similar 'language-barrier' concern as Sakurai himself during his approach to Kirkhope's arrangement of "Spiral Mountain"; both works were released on the same day.
