Tinkaton (JP) is a Fairy/Steel-type Pokémon in the franchise of the same name. It was introduced in the ninth generation. It evolves from Tinkatuff starting at level 38. It is the final form of Tinkatink.
Physiology and Behavior[]
Tinkaton is a pink humanoid Pokémon, with large, white arms and short, stumpy toeless feet with light pink circles underneath. Its arms have five fingers each, with the thumbs having the same color of pink as the body. It has steel plates on its hips that resemble inside-out pockets. Its face has silver eyes with thin eyelashes, and a large mouth with two square teeth-like growths on the upper lips. On top of its head is a large, pinkish-white growth resembling a twin-tail hairstyle, which droops over Tinkaton's back and has darker pink zigzag patterns accenting it.
Tinkaton wields a crude, gigantic metal hammer that weighs over 220 pounds (100 kg) and is larger than its own body. The hammer appears to have been made using the old hammer Tinkaton had as a Tinkatuff for the base, with several scraps of metal colored in varying shades of gray and purple welded onto it. The hammer also has a spiked beige axe-like structure on top. Although the hammer is heavy, Tinkaton can swing it with ease by using its whole body.
Tinkaton is intelligent and has a reckless personality. It swings its hammer at rocks to send them into the sky, aiming to hit flying Corviknight. This Pokémon will also steal anything that it wants and take it back to its dwelling. It has been observed using its hammer like a bed to sleep on. Tinkaton is a female-only species.
Tinkaton is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Gigaton Hammer.
Appearances[]
Main Pokémon games[]
Other Pokémon games[]
Tinkaton appeared in Pokémon Unite during the game's anniversary event, featured in a new game mode called Panic Parade in which players must work together to protect her from a horde of attacking Pokémon. A Panic Parade immediately ends should Tinkaton faint. Along with attacking wild Pokémon that get close enough to it, Tinkaton uses Follow Me as at the start of each wave with a boss. This seemingly is what calls the boss into the battle.
In the anime[]
A Tinkaton appeared in Pokémon Paldean Winds, under the ownership of a Student of Naranja Academy.
Origin & Inspiration[]
Given its type combination and its size, Tinkaton may be inspired by duendes, gnomes, or dwarfs, the latter of which are commonly depicted smithing and using iron tools and weapons. Its habit of specifically interfering with Flying-type Pokémon calls to mind gremlins.
Tinkaton's petite stature and female-only gender ratio in contrast with its massive hammer may reference common media depictions of small and seemingly innocent looking girls with gigantic weapons.
Tinkaton may be a combination of tinker (itinerant tinsmith) and ton or gigaton.

Reception[]
Since their introduction, Tinkaton has been very positively received, and is often stated to be the best Pokémon species introduced in Scarlet and Violet. In part this is due to their design, which has been compared to character design tropes found in Japanese roleplaying games, but also comparisons to fictional races such as gnomes. Even moreso, both media outlets and fans have praised their both chaotic nature and the sense of community and personality provided by Tinkaton's background information, resulting in a large amount of fan created works related to the character.
Trivia[]
- Tinkaton is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 506.
