This Is the Police is a simulation game for the Nintendo Switch published by THQ Nordic. In this game, the player is the head of police for a city of Freeburg.
Gameplay[]
Before starting each day, the player will be shown a set of headlines that gives the player a rough idea of the situation in the city. During press conferences, the player chooses between dialogue choices which affect the next day's headlines.
The main gameplay is controlling the police force, determining which of the police force is working on each case. Each member of the police force has a number above their portrait indicating their ability with higher being better. Below 150 is a somewhat unreliable cop. Their level increases and decreases over the course of their career. The bar to the right of the cop is their energy meter with lower being unreliable and empty might leading to falling asleep at the wheel or making critical errors. They lose one point of energy every day of work and gain one after a day of rest. Some cops have hidden stats that need to be observed as they work.
On the city screen, the main duty is to get to the scene of the crime before the timer runs out. Keep in mind that farther marks will keep officers tied up and unable to respond to incoming work. The officer's portrait will fill up as they finish their job and empties as they return. Selecting the mark will pull up a menu showing how many cops can be put on the case likely indicating the difficulty. However, some calls can turn out to be false alarms while others are actual bigger than they seem. Some jobs demand directs where the player chooses how to approach the situation.
