The Wing of Madoola(JP) is a video game developed and published by Sunsoft. It was released only in Japan for the Nintendo Entertainment System on November 20, 1986.

Plot[]

Once upon a time, in the Kingdom of Badham, there was a statue of a bird known as the Wing of Madoola. Whoever possessed the wing would possess the power to rule the world, and many wars were fought between nations to obtain it. A wise king, one of the members of the Rameru family, managed to get a hold of the wing, and ordered that a deep cave be constructed where the wings would be hidden so that the wars would cease. The knowledge of the cave would be recorded and locked away, accessible only to the rulers of the land. Peace soon returned to the world.

Several centuries later, a young member of the Rameru family known as Darutos learned of the location of the wing through the kingdom's secret archives. He betrayed the family and stole away with the Wing of Madoola. Using the power of the wing, he summoned demons to attack and take over castle Arekusu. He constructed an underground labyrinth beneath the castle, built a dangerous fortress, and planned to rule the world. The few survivors of Arekusu's military, and the remainder of the Rameru family fled the castle. They regrouped and devised a desperate plan to overthrow Darutos and regain control of the kingdom. Lucia, a brave warrior, was selected to accompany a member of the Rameru family who was uniquely capable of wielding magic known only to his family.

As they approached Arekusu, they were beset upon by two powerful demons. While one distracted Lucia, the other attacked the Rameru family member. Lucia battled both demons and defeated them, but not before her partner received a fatal wound. Knowing what had to be done, Lucia bravely pressed forward, knowing that only she could stop Darutos, and regain possession of the Wing of Madoola.

Gameplay[]

An action game in which a girl with a sword confronts evil. There is also a role-playing game-like element in which the main character obtains items and powers up as the stage progresses.

Lucia's ultimate goal is to regain the Wing of Madoola and defeat Dartos. But, she has a door tightly closed between each stage along the way, and she has to find the key jewel to open the door. Therefore, the purpose is to find the jewels on a stage-by-stage basis. By pressing the cross key, Lucia moves on the terrain on the stage or bends down to lower her posture. She jumps with the A button. She swings her sword with the B button or activates the magic selected in magic selection mode. There are six types of her magic attacks, and she is active in situations where it is difficult to survive with the sword in her hand alone. When she presses the start button, she enters a mode to select the next magic to use, during which she uses the select button to select. Lucia has hit points ("HITS", hereafter HP) that indicate the value that can withstand enemy attacks, and magic power ("MAGICS", hereafter MP) that is consumed when using magic attacks. There is. When the damage is accumulated and the HP becomes 0, the game is over at that point, but even if all the MPs are used up, the magic cannot be used during that time, and the game is not over. HP recovers by acquiring jewels and some items along the way. From stage 4, there will also be a statue of a goddess whose HP recovers from the jar she holds. MP recovers automatically when the stage is cleared, and also recovers by acquiring some items along the way. The initial value of both the HP upper limit and the MP upper limit is 1000, and the upper limit increases each time you acquire some items. The upper limit is 5000 for both, and it will not increase any more. Also, each time you get a sword, the damage done to the enemy by the sword increases, and each time you get boots, her movement speed and jumping power increase. Then, when you get an item for magic attack, you can use that magic, and each time you pick up the same item, the attack power will increase. In each case, the number of swords that will appear before the final stage is up to 3, so you can't expect further growth in abilities (since you already have 1 sword from the initial state, it will increase to a maximum of 4). .. There is an RPG element, but it is difficult to clear it unless you have some background in action games, and the difficulty level is high.
