The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is a video game based on the animated movie of the same name, which was based on the SpongeBob SquarePants series. It was published from THQ. It was also "Player's Choice" at the GameCube.

Gameplay[]

The story starts with Spongebob dreaming about being the new manager, and in this quest, he has to get to the Krusty Krab. Finding out in reality that he is not picked and lost to Squidward, he and Patrick, his best friend end up in at the Goofy Goober ice cream parlor and nighttime. Spongebob goes back to the Krusty Krab but during that time, King Neptune looks at a note confessing Mr. Krabs stole his crown, making him think Mr. Krabs took it even Plankton stole it. He then froze Mr. Krabs, so Spongebob and his friend are willing to retrieve it was no sea creature has returned from, which was Shell City. On the way to the crown, they go in dreams and drive in a Patty Wagon through the county line, only to be taken by a thug that was going to Thug Tug. Then they retrieve the car and spatula key. There are only four bosses, fighting a mind-controlled King Neptune, fighting Dennis and a frog-like creature. After getting it back, they have to drive to the Krusty Krab and destroy Plankton's buckets he used to mind-control all the Bikini Bottom townsfolk. Plankton later ends up in jail, and King Neptune unfreezes Mr. Krabs.

Reception[]

Generally, the game was rated well. IGN gave the game a 7.8 out of 10 for the console versions (without GameCube), saying that "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie delivers an entertaining (and oftentimes challenging) mix of platform and driving sequences."[1]. Metacritic gave it (for the GameCube) 73 out of 100 [2]
