The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (JP) is an HD remake of the 2006 GameCube and Wii game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii U. It is developed by Tantalus Media, who had previously ported Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution to the Wii U.

It also supports amiibo including a Wolf Link amiibo bundled with the game. The soundtrack is included in that bundle.

Gameplay[]

The gameplay remains the same as the original.

Changes from the Original[]

  • Some shadow insects have been removed.
  • The game supports Miiverse stamps. Some chests have been replaced with Miiverse stamps

amiibo Support[]

The game supports the following amiibo:

Link and Toon Link reload the player's arrows. Zelda and Sheik refill the player's hearts. These can only be used once a day.

Ganondorf will cause the player to take double damage. It will turn the heart meter blue and the effect will stack with hero mode.

Wolf Link unlocks a special dungeon for Wolf Link called the Cave of Shadows. The player cannot transform back into Human Link in this dungeon and must fight the enemies as the Wolf form.

The dungeon gets harder as the player progresses and some environmental hazards like lava can be introduced. Tapping the Wolf Link amiibo will create a save with the same number of hearts as the player did.

The player can access this save from tapping the amiibo on the title screen. Completing this dungeon will give the player the Colossal Wallet which can hold up to 9999 rupees.

Reception[]

The game received rather mixed reviews for a Legend of Zelda game, but was still well-received, overall, with a score of 85 on Metacritic. While critics did say that it was a solid port, many said this version failed to fix many of the original's flaws such as the slow opening.
