The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is the name of a remake of the fourth Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, for Nintendo Switch. The game retain most of the 2D elements found in the original game but with an upgraded art style that allow the game to look way more detailed than the Game Boy game.

Gameplay

Even if not much was shown of the game, we can assume from what we know that the game is a faithful reproduction of the original game, which means that the gameplay and progression will be pretty similar. Like in most traditional Zelda game, Link is required to go through dungeons and gather items that will help him progress in the story. Many enemies and puzzles will be found in those dungeons to challenge the players and those must be bypassed by using items that are gathered throughout the game.

Story

After saving Hyrule from Ganon at the end of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Link departs to another land. While he is traversing the sea on his boat, he is struck by lightning and fall into a coma. In this dream world, Link meets Marin and soon realize that he is trapped here by a powerful entity named the Wind Fish and that his only hope is to awake this dreamer who is also the source of the entire Island.

Development

After the release of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, it was stated the team in charge of the Zelda series wanted to try to remake Link's Awakening in the future. The game was officially announced during a Nintendo Direct broadcasted on February 13, 2019.
