The Hip Hop Dance Experience is a dancing game for the Wii published by Ubisoft, iNiS, and Land Ho! It is a spin-off to the Just Dance series, being part of the "Experience" games (which inlcude "Michael Jackson: The Experience" and "The Black Eyed Peas Experience").
Gameplay Modes
The gameplay modes include:
- Dance Party (Normal dancing mode)
- Dance Battle (A battle mode, where you try and outdance your competition)
- Dance Marathon (Testing your stamina with endless songs)
- Power Skooling (Perfect the iconic hip hop moves step by step, with the ability to slow down moves)
Trivia / Other Facts
- This is the first "Experience" game where the Wii Version and the Kinect for Xbox 360 Version share significant similarities. In previous games for the Wii, the "Experience" games resembled the "Just Dance series, while "Experience" games for Xbox 360 were much different and more similar to the "Dance Central" series of games.
- In the Wii Version, the title screen includes a button for an "Instructional Video", with a picture of a Wii Remote Plus. This is a record for Ubisoft dance games, as this is the first and so far only game to use the "Wii Motion Plus" peripheral that Nintendo created to better track the Wii Remote. An Amazon.com reviwer commented on the strength of having the "Wii Motion Plus" peripheral. The addition item to the Wii Remote helps "pick up some of the more subtle movements."
- The songs do not have interchangeable difficulties, like in the Xbox 360 version. Each song has a specific routine and cannot be set to "Easy", "Medium" or "Go Hard."
- The "Wardrobe" tab seen in the Xbox 360 version is not available in the Wii Version. Each song has a specific dance coach and set of moves. They cannot be changed like in the Xbox 360 version.
- The Dance Battle routine in "The Hip Hop Dance Experience" is very different compared to the same mode in "Just Dance 4", a dance game also made by Ubisoft released one month before "The Hip Hop Dance Experience" was released.
- This is also the first game to have a mode to help master the moves, known in "The Hip Hop Dance Experience" as the "Power Skooling" mode.
- It is possible to sort the songs by pressing the "-" button on the Wii Remote. This addition has not been available in a Ubisoft dance game in the United States since "Just Dance 2" back in 2010.
