Terrako is one of the main protagonists of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. It is a small Guardian that has the ability to travel through time. It was activated with a Blessed Screw by the young Princess Zelda with the help from her mother, who she showed it to, and Terrako would play her lullaby before she goes to sleep every night. After the Queen of Hyrule passes away before Zelda's training to awaken her sealing power could begin, it often plays her lullaby whenever she starts missing her mom. Later, her father King Rhoam confiscated Terrako from her against her wishes, since he does not want her to be distracted from her divine training and it was eventually forgotten by the princess a decade later, left in a crate in her study. Terrako plays a big role in changing the outcome of the Great Calamity and leaving an impact on the kingdom of Hyrule; Terrako's name isn't revealed until the game's climax.

End of the Timelines[]

The Calamity Occurred[]

Terrako escapes

Terrako dodges the laser as it travels into the past.

In the opening of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Princess Zelda awakens her sealing power to protect Link from the Guardian Stalkers, and in the process brings the Diminutive Guardian, Terrako to life. Terrako falls out of the box and observes the dismal wake of the Calamity. Sensing the desperation of the princess, Terrako opens a time portal, and a corrupted Guardian Stalker attempts to destroy it, but Terrako narrowly avoids the laser as it jumps into the portal. Malice from the Guardian pursued it into the past where the Great Calamity has yet to happen and everyone still living.

The Calamity is Averted[]

Terrako waking up

According to the Guardian of Remembrance DLC, Terrako arrives in the past and goes to search for Princess Zelda, but so does Ganon's Malice and it takes control of the Terrako in that timeline and becomes Harbinger Ganon and began to pursue it to prevent it from making contact with Link, Impa, and Princess Zelda. During its search for the princess, Terrako wanders into the coliseum where it was confronted by Harbinger Ganon where it had their battle. After Terrako attempted to leave the coliseum believing it was victorious, Harbinger Ganon reactivates and transforms into Mutated Ganon and sends it sliding and has it buried under rubble. Once Harbinger Ganon assumes that Terrako won't cause it any more trouble, it reverts to its original form and leaves it behind. Later on, two Bokoblins arrive at the coliseum and searched for valuable loot, where they find Terrako. One of them takes it along on its bone weapon and they left the area.

As the Bokoblins stroll to rejoin their group, they find Link fighting their comrades and flee in terror, accidentally tossing Terrako into the air and lands against the rock in Hyrule Field where it rested until Link took notice of it during a battle against an army of monsters. Impa was getting pursued by monsters while carrying a Sheikah Slate and tosses it to Link; the Sheikah Slate's presence reactivates Terrako and the Sheikah Towers rise from the ground. Eventually, Princess Zelda appears but she does not recognize Terrako, but she takes notice of how it reacted to the Sheikah Slate. When Terrako is presented to King Rhoam, he only somewhat recognized it, but keeps it to himself, and permits Zelda to let it travel with her as she was so convinced of its usefulness, on the condition that as long as she isn't distracted from her important duty: awaking her power necessary to seal Calamity Ganon.

Terrako meets the group

Terrako meets Link, Impa, and Zelda.

During their journey to the Royal Ancient Lab at the Breach of Demise, they are attacked by a Guardian Stalker, who went berserk due to Harbinger Ganon's influence. Terrako activates a Guardian, causing it to shoot at the Guardian Stalker, proving to be effective and the party decides to activate the other Guardians, while the Hylian Soldiers hold off their pursuer. Terrako is brought to the other inactive Guardians to activate them to deal significant damage and Link and the party managed to destroy it. The little Guardian is brought before Purah and Robbie to study it and realize that it can strengthen the power of the ancient technology and soon picked up a memory of it where Calamity Ganon razed the kingdom with the use of the Guardians it hijacks, leaving the party disturbed.

Terrako joins Link, Impa, and Princess Zelda to help them select the most elite warriors to pilot the Divine Beasts, who turned out to be Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa. Harbinger Ganon is responsible for causing so much misery to each of them by sending armies of monsters to Zora's Domain, Goron City and Mines, and repeatedly attacked Rito Village to the point where Revali and his army became paranoid of Guardians and ended up attacking Link's party since Terrako was with them and ended with Zelda pleading Link and Revali to stop their brawl before any of them are seriously harmed or killed. Throughout the story, Terrako had proven time and time again to be a valuable ally to the Champions. As the Yiga Clan attacks Castle Town and Princess Zelda was at Sooga's mercy when he tosses his kunai at her, but Terrako jumps in front of her face to block the attack, but Link uses his shield to save them both, prompting Sooga and the Yiga Clan to withdraw and Terrako shows its displeasure by scolding Link for stealing its moment.

Terrako plays Zelda's Lullaby

Terrako plays Zelda's Lullaby to the distraught princess.

After Link pulls the Master Sword in an effort to save Zelda from Astor and his Malice copies of the four Champions pilots called Hollows in Korok Forest, Princess Zelda becomes more distraught over the fact that Link had achieved a milestone while she didn't. Terrako senses her distress and plays "Zelda's Lullaby" to her, causing the princess to learn that Terrako had a part in her childhood where it would lull her to sleep every night, but they are soon interrupted by a horde of monsters ahead that appear at the outskirts of Hyrule Castle. After completing the battle and ending the siege, Link, Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa are officially declared Champions and are given blue cloths to signify their status and they all swap out certain clothing in favor of these new garments.

Revali and Terrako

Terrako getting on Revali's nerves.

They spend some time relaxing outside where Impa is optimistic about the outcome, but Terrako interrupts them and tried to join in the conversation and is soon swatting Impa's hand away when she tried to scold it and she starts chasing it around and eventually Terrako tried to get the Rito Warrior involved, but their fight ended up irritating Revali and left the area in disgust. Later, King Rhoam learns from the scientists that Calamity Ganon will be returning on Princess Zelda's 17th birthday and took measures to keep down the numbers of civilian deaths by evacuating them and sends soldiers to Akkala Citadel and Fort Hateno, due to their importance in Hyrule's survival and the fall of those strongholds would seriously cripple Hyrule.

In The Guardian of Remembrance DLC, the Hylian Captain notices that an ominous Guardian has entered the other coliseum and forbids anyone from heading there, Terrako goes out to investigate anyway, suspecting that Harbinger Ganon is up to no good again. They clash again and Terrako was overpowered by its Mutated Form once again, but this incident did not go unnoticed when Purah is watching the events through her binoculars and told Princess Zelda and her friends about it. They work with Purah and Robbie to collect the energy sources and use them to activate the energy furnaces. Despite Astor and a couple of Malice monsters interfering with the process, they managed to force them into withdrawal. Once they fire up the furnaces, Terrako is reactivated and, despite the concerns of Impa and Purah, Terrako was able to hold its own in battle and it eventually fires its own powerful laser to send Harbinger Ganon flying to which it lands on the Yiga Footsoldiers' cushion. Terrako dares them to fight it, but rather than doing so, the Yiga Clan simply vanish in a puff of smoke, much to its disappointment. Link and Zelda managed to catch up to Terrako and they are relieved to see that it was okay, before it chirps and beeps some things to them, much to their amusement.

Later, Purah and Robbie do further research on Terrako, in hopes to extract more vital information from it, when they are suddenly attacked by the "researchers" who happen to be the Yiga Clan in disguise and Purah orders Terrako to take the Sheikah Slate to Princess Zelda immediately, which it does so. Link, Impa, and Zelda are ready to depart from the castle and make their way to Mt. Lanayru and as it was Zelda's 17th birthday, she is now of age to be permitted entry to the mountain where the Spring of Wisdom resided. Terrako suddenly arrives, skittering along the path frantically with the Sheikah Slate in tow and before they got a good look at the images that Purah and Robbie found, Calamity Ganon's seal breaks and Hyrule Castle is surrounded by Malice. The four Champion pilots witness the events, but the Sheikah Towers lost power due to Ganon's influence, cutting them off from one another. They go into the castle to try and save King Rhoam, who is in serious danger, and they witness the Guardians being possessed by the Calamity and turned against them along the way and monsters invading the area. As they flee, a Guardian attempts to shoot them, but King Rhoam managed to stun them, providing them enough time for them to escape while he holds them off. Link and Zelda are reluctant to leave him alone due to the magnitude of the situation, and Rhoam reminds Link of his duty to protect his only daughter, and he does so and takes Zelda by her hand and brings her out of the castle, with the princess protesting as she watches the Guardians aim at her father and presumably kill him. Princess Zelda saw the images of the Divine Beasts being hijacked with a chance that the Champions will highly likely perish, and she succumbs to despair over how abysmal things will turn out and blames herself for her failure. Terrako plays Zelda's Lullaby in an attempt to comfort her, and her tears hit Terrako's blue core, causing it to create time portals that split into four and they saw Divine Beast Vah Medoh's circuitry retaining its blue color along with the others, indicating that the Champions are still standing, but the trailing Malice on them showed that they are in serious danger. Impa realized that hope might not be lost and still have some time left as she and Link set off to save them, with the princess following them.

Zelda thanks Terrako

Princess Zelda thanking Terrako for saving the Champions.

The time portals have summoned the older Prince Sidon, Yunobo, Teba, and Riju from the future to save Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa at the last moment by blocking their attacks and interrupting the Blight Ganons' lethal assaults. The Champions have managed to hold on much longer thanks to their future counterparts, but they began to struggle against the monsters. Their support to their predecessors was enough for back up to arrive. Link, Impa, and Zelda have broken through several obstacles to reach the Divine Beasts and drove out the Blights, saving the lives of the Champions in the process. On their way to Akkala Citadel, Princess Zelda takes a moment to thank Terrako for helping to save the Champions from meeting their untimely ends. They engaged in battle at the citadel where they defended the Hylian Soldiers that were stationed there, with Divine Beast Vah Ruta backing them up and Robbie, who somehow escaped the Yiga Clan's grasp, orders the soldiers to destroy the bridge just as the Malice Guardians began to crossover, and Akkala Citadel is secured. They then traveled to Fort Hateno where Urbosa and Riju obliterated large numbers of Guardians and monsters with Divine Beast Vah Naboris and is soon followed by the other Champions with their Divine Beasts. Link, Zelda, and Impa arrive to defend Hateno. Princess Zelda is frequently told to retreat but she refused to sit in the sidelines. Eventually, Astor appeared inside the fort and calls forth the newly revived Blight Ganons from the souls of the Yiga Footsoldiers he reaped, and Link is left to deal with them alone as Impa and the princess flee, but remembering what happened to her father, Princess Zelda acts by pulling away from Impa and runs back and her power that she had been seeking all her life, awoke and disabled the Blights, to Astor's horror and the prophet flees. With Purah creating a failsafe that would destroy a huge portion of Ganon's Army, the Guardian Stalkers and the tides shift in Hyrule's favor.

Princess Zelda gave a rousing speech to the army to not give in to despair and takes command of them. They soon encounter Master Kohga, who decides to side with her with the Yiga Clan, due to having lost many of his comrades caused by Astor's treachery against them. They head to the Great Plateau to help the remainders of the forces there. After backing them up by destroying the more powerful monsters, Princess Zelda is extremely relieved to see that her father had managed to make it out alive, thanks to the Ancient Guardian Shield that she gave him and reconciled.

Zelda distraught over Terrako

Princess Zelda saddened over the damaged Terrako.

They staged a full-frontal assault on Hyrule Castle with the united forces of Hylian, Zora, Goron, Rito, Gerudo, Sheikah, and the Yiga Clan summoned by Purah with the use of the restored Sheikah Towers. The Champions open fire on Ganon once its defenses are down, but the Blood Moon revives the fallen monsters and despite this, Hyrule achieved another victory as they charge into the castle to take it back from Calamity Ganon. Harbinger Ganon and Astor await them as they arrive, and he's noticeably going mad from his prophecy being defied in every way. The heroes battled vigorously and killed off the Blight Ganons for good and they went on to gain victory over Astor and Harbinger Ganon, and the Prophet of Doom completely loses his mind and orders Ganon to kill the warriors, but as Sooga had forewarned earlier, Ganon is nobody's servant and consumes the seer instead. Terrako was nearby when the Malice attaches to Terrako's mechanical body, possessing it into turning against Link and Zelda and they reluctantly had to battle it. With Terrako critically damaged, Zelda and the Champions mourn its condition and it weakly plays Zelda's Lullaby and she remembers everything about her childhood with Terrako and vows to bring Ganon down, no matter what it takes and head to the sanctum where Calamity Ganon awaited them. The warriors began to struggle due to Ganon's invincibility and Zelda attempts to seal it with her power and it revives Terrako, who weakly gets up and rushes up the stairs and uses the last of its strength to jump between her and Ganon, destroying itself in order to cripple Ganon's defenses and leaving him vulnerable and the group is even more determined than ever. Link used the Master Sword to cleave Ganon and with some effort Princess Zelda is able to seal Ganon away for good and restores peace to Hyrule. Terrako's blessed screw channels enough power to send Sidon, Yunobo, Teba, and Riju back to their time, but not before they say good-bye to their predecessors and Zelda wishes light in their future.

Terrako's reunion with Zelda

Terrako repaired and reunited with Zelda.

Soon, everyone pitches in to search for Terrako's fifty components and brings them to the Royal Ancient Lab where it was reconstructed, but to everyone's dismay, Terrako isn't responding and Impa tries to wake it up herself before Zelda stops her and stands in front of it. Terrako eventually comes to life, much to their relief and is reunited with Princess Zelda. During the credit sequences, Terrako is seen visiting every warrior that it met with during their journey together and it was welcomed with open arms. It returns to Hyrule Castle where all the warriors that partook in the battle for freedom and Daruk pulls Link, Terrako, Princess Zelda, Mipha, Revali, and Urbosa in for a group hug.

In the secret DLC ending, Terrako is revealed to be on much better terms with Impa, allowing her to hold its claw without swatting it away this time which made her happy that they are on good terms now. Terrako is also seen with the other Champions as they discuss amongst themselves as Terrako happily joins their discussion and entertains them. In the last scene where everyone is at the Sheikah Tower, with the Champions are back in their original attires, Impa asks Zelda if she plans on going through with it which she confirms before floating away on a paraglider as Terrako joins her and they admire the scenery as they go, and she notes that their efforts were not in vain.
