The Tenda (Gumi in Japanese) are a fictional species from the SNES game EarthBound. They appear in Tenda Village, a cave hidden in the middle of the Deep Darkness swamp, and a second tribe appears in the Lost Underword. The Tendas from Tenda Village are extremely shy and will not talk to anybody. However, after Ness gives them the book Overcoming Shyness they are cured. Once this happens, the Tenda grant Ness's party access to Lumine Hall and the Lost Underworld. The second tribe, unlike the other one, is not shy at all, and is found in the middle of the vast area that is the Lost Underworld. Despite this, they all believe the area outside their village is a cage.
