Teach, real name Oleg, is a non-playable hero character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He is the Agnian commander of Colony Gamma.

Before the events of the game, Teach was All-Slayer Oleg, the commander of Colony Chi. His ruthless tactics helped his colony wipe out many Kevesi forces, but his own colony was nearly destroyed in the process. Wanting to escape his past, Oleg left and eventually became commander of Colony Gamma under the name Teach with the help of Consul G. There, he spread proper morals to the colony's members, including Mio, Sena, and Taion. It is implied he fought Ashera at some point while under the name Oleg.

Teach can first be encountered in Chapter 3. After the Ouroburos encounter Colony Gamma member Kyrie, she leads them to Colony Gamma. Despite the Ouroburos's worries, the colony and Teach are welcoming and without hostilities. Teach tells the Ouroburos they should go to an area near the colony so they can have more open talks. On the way, he shows them the Scree Walk skill, allowing them to walk up sandy hills without problem.

After leading the Ouroburos to a remote location, Teach reveals that he has actually lured them there to destroy them. Following a brief battle, Teach listens to the Ouroburos and declares that they are not traitors and not worthy of death. He then asks the consul for their opinion, revealing Consul G was observing the entire time. The Ouroburos and Teach fight and defeat G, and Teach leads them back to the colony so Noah and Mio can destroy the Flame Clock. Teach then reveals that he believed in the Ouroburos, but he needed to test them to make sure they were not enthralled by power. He then agrees to help them on their journey.

In his Ascension Quest, Teach has the Ouroburos help with training the colony's soldiers by having them fight in groups in the Everblight Plain near the supply drops. During the training, Kyrie is abducted by an unknown individual, though her squad believes she just got lost and wandered off. Following the training, with Kyrie still missing, Teach receives a call from the unknown person who identifies himself as the one who abducted Kyrie. Despite Teach saying he'll go alone, the Ouroburos accompany him to where Kyrie is being held. They find Kyrie and her abductor, a Kevesi soldier called the Avenger who was the only survivor of a battle against Colony Chi. Partway through the battle, Kyrie musters the strength to get up and join the fight. In the battle the Avenger is killed, apologizing to Kyrie for calling her a rookie before he dies. After Mio sends him off, Taion asks about Teach's past and the commander Oleg, but Teach declines to answer, citing an oath he took with G to not talk about his past.

Gameplay

His class is a Healer class named Thaumaturge, and wields a Blade known as the Martial Linkstaff. Teach's Chain Art is Dragon Unbound, and his Heroic Chain bonus gives all other active characters 10TP.

Following his Hero Quest, the player gains the Scree Walk skill, allowing them to walk up sandy hills without issue. During his Ascension Quest the player unlocks the All-Slayer art, which unleashes several hits similarly to the Violent Flurry art.

Trivia

• Teach is the only hero with Indoline traits, and also the only person with Indoline traits to join the party in the Xenoblade series.
