Super Bubble Pop is a puzzle video game developed for multiple platforms including the GameCube and Game Boy Advance systems in 2003. The game was primarily marketed in North America, although GBA copies were available in Germany.
The game is based around a unique theme of popping colourful bubbles, combined with groovy soundtracks and a pyschedelic atmosphere.
Gameplay[]
The game's core gameplay consists of controlling the avatar from left to right across an isometric 9x9 grid to blow and pop colourful bubbles. The bubbles present on the grid have to be popped by lining up three or more bubbles of the same colour. The aim is to keep popping all the bubbles before they overflow out of the grid. Removing all the bubbles will progress to the next level, of which there are 150 in total.
The game has a selection of five different DJs to choose from - one of them apparently being a robot. Each DJ has their own favourite colour, and lining up bubbles of that colour will fill up the jar which when maxed out provides the DJ with powerful special attacks to pop multiple bubbles at once. These attacks have different effects, from freezing and flipping to even brutal shockwaves across the whole grid.
One of the main features of the game is its dance soundtrack composed of fast tempo and techno, designed to engage the player and add to the pace of the puzzle games. There are four different teacks available, and the levels are also decorated with acid-trip themes and a barrage of colourful animations to add to the player's experience.
