Final Fantasy III Summoners

The Summoner is a recurring job class in the Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem series. Notable summoners include Rydia from Final Fantasy IV, Ewan and Knoll (the only possible summoners in the Fire Emblem series) from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and Izuka, a boss and minor character, from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It is also a job class in Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.

As their name implies, Summoners are capable of summoning powerful beasts to do their bidding, which often happens to be fighting an opponent of theirs although some summons provide healing effects the summoner's party. In the Fire Emblem series, they may have one summon at a time which is an axe-wielding phantom. Their stats (except for defense and resistance, which are always 0) mirror those of their summoner. In the Final Fantasy series, the summonable creatures only appear for a short time and cost a lot of Magic Points, or MP. Recurring summons include Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Bahamut, and Odin.
