SteamWorld Dig 2 is the sequel to SteamWorld Dig, released on the Nintendo Switch by Image & Form. The game features a side character from the original, Dorothy, as the main character looking for the first game's protagonist.
The game plays fairly similarly to the original at first with the main mechanic being the player carving paths underground using a pickaxe but, the game is much more designed around platforming elements compared to the original.
Like the original, the game was received very well, with a score of 88 on MetaCritic. The game sold well too, quickly reaching number 1 in the eShop charts soon after release. The developers have stated that the game sold about 10 times better on Switch than Steam giving a ballpark estimate of sales of 300,000.
