In Paper Mario, Mario must collect seven Star Spirits in order to defeat Bowser and rescue Peach. Each Star Spirit is obtained by defeating the boss of a separate land. Each Star Spirit also possesses a special ability. The Star Spirits reside in Star Haven and wear diapers and wear rattles wear pacifieres.
The Star Spirits also appear in Mario Party 5 as the main hosts of the game.
