SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a SpongeBob SquarePants game released for the GameCube, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. It was released in 2003 and it was later remastered for the Nintendo Switch and its contemporaries in 2020 as SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated.

Gameplay[]

The game is a 3D free-roaming adventure in which the player controls SpongeBob SquarePants, who can jump, stomp, roll, and attack by using bubbles and his Jellyfish Net. The player would navigate through various courses based on the locations of the original series. There are collectables such as the Golden Spatulas and Shiny Objects, and are used to unlock certain features and access new courses.

During gameplay, if a player passes through a "Checkpoint" and dies, the character will respawn from there. Sometimes, players can switch to different characters like Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, depending on the course and area.

Courses are usually linear, but are also freely-explorable.
