Sound Fantasy (JP) was a cancelled video game that Nintendo originally intended to launch for their Super Nintendo Entertainment System console in 1994. What stood this particular game apart from other video games was that it was based on a music genre, which was something fresh, novel and somewhat eccentric at the time as such music games were hardly common in the 1990s, and were only introduced the next decade. Although the game, which was known as Sound Factory in the early stages of development, was almost complete and scheduled to be launched into the market, it was inexplicably cancelled by Nintendo; this was possibly to focus on mainstream games instead heading into unknown genres. In 2015, a prototype of this game that had otherwise never seen the light of day was leaked.
