Sophia, also referred to as Sophie, is a character first found in Persona 5 Strikers. She is first discovered by the protagonist in Shibuya Jail.

A mysterious girl found in the Shibuya Jail who seems to have lost all her memories, save those of her role as humanity's companion. She's a hard worker who contributes greatly to the Phantom Thieves with her Persona-like power.

Street Entertainer: Come one, come all! No tricks or dark magics here—just a genuine miracle unfolding before your very eyes! Sophie: I've never seen so many people... Sophie: It feels so strange to be in a place like this while in human form. Notte: Guess you don't get out much, eh, Sophie? Mona: Yeah, when we go into town, Sophie is usually in Joker's pho...er, his pocket. Panther: Yeah, and you're usually in Joker's bag. Mona: Hey, I take plenty of walks alone! But Sophie doesn't really get to do that. Sophie: Yeah, opportunities to get out in the world are very precious to me, so thanks for this. Euden: Happy to help. Euden: Well, we've got some time left, so where do you want to head next, Sophie? Elisanne: I hear there'll be a performance at the theater today—and as luck would have it, there is a new bakery across the street! Sophie: I appreciate the thought, but don't worry about me. Sophie: I am humanity's companion. If there's anything I can do to help, I want to do it. Old Lady: Gyaaaa! Ooh, my back... Sophie: Oh no! That old lady fell down! I should go check on her! Sophie: Are you all right, ma'am? Did you hurt your back? Here, allow me to help you up. Old Lady: Aaand...HOOF! *phew* Oh, thank you. What a sweet young thing you are. Sophie: No prob. But you're clearly carrying too much. Here, I'll hold it for you. Where do you need to go? Old Lady: Land sakes! Well, if you really don't mind, I'm just headed to that store over there to meet up with my son. Sophie: All right, all loaded up. Hold my hand and we'll take it nice and slow. Sophie: There we go. I'll just set your things down. Anything else I can help with? Old Lady: Oh, you've already done plenty, my dear! Now I won't be late. I feel like I should do something to thank you... Sophie: No prob. I'm humanity's companion, so your thanks are the only reward I need. Old Lady: Well then, I'll take my leave. Take care, child—and thank you again! Sophie: She thanked me... Sophie: The only directive I'm able to recall is, "Become humanity's companion." As an AI, it is my sole purpose for existence. Episode 2 An Unprecedented Challenge Sophie: ...Someone needs help at a restaurant? Euden: Yep. There's a new place in a nearby town that's a bit short-staffed in the kitchen. Euden: Want to give it a shot? Sophie: You bet! I mean, I've never actually cooked before, but I'll do my best. Cleo: Perhaps I will accompany you, then; you are in need of a guide if nothing else. Mona: You should go too, Joker! Mona: I'm more of an eater than a cooker, so I'd be useless in a kitchen. Joker: Yeah, probably for the best. Let's go. Sophie: Right! Sophie: Hello, my name is Sophie. Please tell me how I can help around your restaurant. Restaurant Owner: You're just in the nick of time! You can start with adding spice to those pots there. Restaurant Owner: The spice bottle's right next to them. Three shakes should do it. Sophie: Hmm... This spice looks a bit like the "pepper" I've seen Joker use. Sophie: Right then, three shakes! One... Two... Thr... Thre... Sophie: What's this feeling? It's tickling my nose! Wow, having a real body really is some... somethi... Sophie: A-CHOO! Restaurant Owner: Hey, what are you DOING?! Sneezing in the kitchen is a health hazard! Sophie: A-CHOO! Sorry! I'm really sorry! The spice is just—A-CHOO! It's very—A-CHOO! Restaurant Owner: That's one sensitive sniffer you've got. Sorry for putting you on spice duty. Restaurant Owner: Good news is, you only snotted up a few pots. Anyway, let's find you a different job. Restaurant Owner: Go prep those ingredients, would you? Nothing sneeze-worthy over there. Just cut and chop and prep. BAM! Sophie: Yes, Chef! ...Wow, that's a lot. Sophie: Well, I may have messed up the first time, but this is my chance for redemption! Sophie: Hold on, what are these? Walnuts? Joker had a special tool he used to crack the shells, right? Maybe it's this? Sophie: Okay, just put the nut here and squeeze... Sophie: Ah! It went flying everywhere! Cleo: No, Sophie! Stop! If you crack nebblenuts like that, you destroy all the meat inside! Sophie: Wait, these aren't walnuts? Cleo: They are not. Do you not have nebblenuts in your world? Cleo: No, it would seem not—which means you are likely not familiar with...most of this. Cleo: How about this: I will deal with nuts and vegetables, while you prepare the meat. Sophie: Good idea. I assume chopping meat is much the same from one world to another. Sophie: Sadly, I've never used a knife before— but I've seen Joker use one many times! Sophie: He curves his fingers like this... And then makes the blade go... OW! Joker: Did you cut your finger, Sophie? Sophie: I tried to do it just like you... Joker: Yeah, the real thing is pretty different. Still, you shouldn't be cutting meat with a finger injury like that. Joker: I'll take over. You watch and learn. Sophie: Okay... Sophie: I'm back... *sigh* Notte: Oh man, you look lower than a snake in a wheel rut. Things not go well down at the ol' hash-slingery? Sophie: I couldn't do anything. I was useless. Sophie: Cleo and Joker ended up having to perform all of my tasks for me. Sophie: My whole purpose as an AI is to help people, but in the end... Cleo: Don't be so hard on yourself, Sophie. It is always difficult to prepare for real- world situations—especially when you have never BEEN real before! Cleo: All things considered, I think you did remarkably well. Notte: Yeah, so turn that frown around, chum! Pobody's nerfect, so you just go out there and get 'em next time. Euden: Even the restaurant owner could tell how hard you were working. Euden: It's not like you ruined anything, so just take what you learned for next time. Sophie: I've analyzed the reasons for my recent shortcomings, and I think I needed more study and practice in advance. I won't make that mistake ever again! Sophie: I made sure to read up on the basics of farm work, so I'm certain I can help! Elderly Farmer: Reckon that's a load off my mind, girl. What say ya mosey on over yonder and get to waterin' them crops? Sophie: Got it. I studied this at the Halidom. I just need to water the soil until it becomes damp to the touch. Elderly Farmer: Oh, the crops in that there field don't need more'n a sprinkle! Don't go killin' 'em now! Sophie: A sprinkle? But that's not what I learned. And yet, why would you not know the correct way to water your own crops...? Sophie: Oh dear. I don't know what to do... Elderly Farmer: Well, y'know, there's lots a' different kinds a' farmin'. But for now just go do as ya been told. Sophie: But I was told two different things... Sophie: Hello, I'm Sophie from the Halidom! How might I help you today? Woman: Oh, thank goodness you're finally here! I simply CANNOT get my baby to sleep, and I was wondering if you might be able to watch her for a bit while I go out. Sophie: Not to worry; I learned all about child- rearing at the Halidom. First, I simply take the baby and rock it gently... Baby: Waaaaah! Sophie: Hmm, that's not good... Oh, silly me! I forgot to sing the lullaby! Sophie: La la la laaaa... ♪ Baby: WAAAAAAAAH! Sophie: Huh!? Now it's crying even more! Did I sing the wrong song? Should I have made up some lyrics? Oh no, um... Sophie: I'm worthless—a total failure as an AI. Euden: Not quite sure what that means, but I can see you're upset. Ranzal: Sounds like she's been takin' on some tough jobs and fallin' flat on her face. Luca: Well, everyone has bad luck now and then, Sophie. It just happens. Don't worry! Merchant: Help, Prince Euden... Euden: You're wounded! What happened? Merchant: I was delivering medicine to a nearby town when I was attacked by fiends. My mother and I escaped, but I lost the cargo. Merchant: If we don't get that medicine back, the townspeople won't get the healing they need. Please, you must help us! Euden: Understood. We'll head out. Who's ready to go right now? Ranzal: I'm always ready for a scrap, boss. Lessee, who else we got...? Sophie: Where did the attack occur? Ranzal: Huh? Merchant: Just south of the Halidom, in the Edda Woods. Sophie: Ah, yes. I know the place. Sophie: Wait here! I'll retrieve your medicine! Euden: Sophie, wait! You can't go without backup! Euden: ...Wow. It was like she couldn't even hear me. Joker: We better get after her. Euden: Yeah, I suppose so. C'mon, everyone! Euden: Please be careful, Sophie... Episode 4 What Really Matters Deep in the Edda Woods Sophie: *pant* Okay, where's the medicine? And are the fiends still here? ...Oh! Fiends: Graaagh! Sophie: There you are! I'm sorry, but the townspeople need that more than you, so hand it over. Sophie: Hah! Fiends: Graaaaagh... Sophie: More of you? But I can't give up! Take this! Sophie: Is that the end of them...? Fiends: Graaagh! Sophie: Ah! I think I'm in trouble here... Joker: Ravage them, Arsène! Euden: Blazing Circlet! Fiends: Graaagh! Sophie: Joker! You all came! Euden: You've done really well, Sophie, but let's handle the rest together. Joker: Can you keep going? Sophie: Yeah, I'm fine. Just tell me what to do! Fiends: Raaaagh! Sophie: *pant* I think that...was the last of them... Ranzal: Yeah, I don't see no more here. Nice job with the fightin', folks! Panther: Wait! We defeated the fiends, which is awesome, but what about the medicine? Sophie: It should be right... Oh no! Sophie: They've been gnawing on it pretty bad. Most of it is gone. Cleo: And after all that work... Sophie: I'm sorry, everyone. Sophie: I wasn't able to retrieve the medicine. Elisanne: Fiends did this, Sophie—not you. Mona: And even if the medicine was destroyed, you still protected the merchant's wagon! Ranzal: For now, let's just scrounge up what we can and haul it back to the Halidom, yeah? Cleo: They'll understand, Sophie. Don't worry. Sophie: Okay... Sophie: ...This is all we were able to recover. I'm so sorry we couldn't do more. Merchant: I appreciate your fine efforts, young lady. Luck was clearly just not with us today. Merchant: That said, those sick people in the village still dearly need their medicine... Sophie: ...... Merchant: What do you think, Mom? I suppose we'll have to head to another village and try to buy more, right? Old Lady: I've a better idea. Thanks to this young lady's efforts, we can MAKE more. Old Lady: Heh heh heh! We meet again, my kind and brave hero. Sophie: You're the woman with the bad back! Merchant: Hang on. You know this lady, Mom? Also, what was that bit you said earlier about "making medicine"? Old Lady: I've been looking over the wagon you so helpfully recovered, and it's coated from yoke to brake block with fiend scales! Old Lady: These scales are very hard to come by, and you can use them to brew medicine that works on all manner of ailments. Old Lady: Young lady? You saved us. Sophie: I...did? Old Lady: Indeed you did—although your friends here also played no small part in it. Please allow me to thank you again properly in a few days. Merchant: For now, we need to get to the village and distribute the medicine. Thanks again! Sophie: ...... Euden: Well done, Sophie. You defeated the fiends AND brought back their scales. Sophie: Yes, but I only managed the second part through pure coincidence. Ranzal: Are ya kiddin' me? There were hardly any damn fiends left by the time we got there! Cleo: If not for you running ahead, they would have fled the area before we arrived. Sophie: Huh... Euden: Your desire to help people—your thoughts and actions—led directly to this result. Sophie: You really think so...? Panther: Yep! And that's what matters more than success or failure. Elisanne: Indeed, how you think and act matters far more than the eventual outcome. Elderly Farmer: Nossir, that oughta just about tear 'er. Thanks again, Sophie! Sophie: Call on me anytime! Ranzal: Man, Sophie's been killin' it lately. Panther: Ever since that incident with the wagon, she seems more lively—and if she falls down, she just gets up and tries again. Cleo: She was a natural go-getter who simply needed a bit more experience in actually succeeding at things. Cleo: It does my heart good to see her working so happily now. Euden: Thank-you letters for Sophie have been pouring in from all over. Euden: And since I sort of run this place, I figure we should give her something, too. Euden: Do you Phantom Thieves have any ideas about what might make her happy? Mona: Well, she was really happy when I brought her food in that one Jail... Panther: But here we're able to eat every day, so it should probably be something a little more special... Joker: Maybe something she can only do in this world, then? Hmm... Joker: Say, would it be possible to let her ride a dragon, Euden? Euden: Um, maybe. But...why? Mona: Hey, that's a great idea! Remember how we said Sophie is usually riding around in Joker's pocket? Notte: You did say that—and it made ZERO sense to me, but go on with your bad selves. Mona: Point is, she's always had a rather limited view of things. Mona: So if she could ride on a dragon and see the whole world from the sky... Panther: Oh man, that would be an amazing memory to take back with her! Sophie: But Mona taught me that if I could learn to understand people, it would help me get better at being their companion. Sophie: So I started traveling with the Phantom Thieves, met more people, and learned all about their hearts. Euden: Go on. Sophie: As far as the human heart goes, I'm still learning. But thanks to traveling with them, I was able to come to this place. Sophie: I met all of you from the Halidom and learned many important things. Sophie: And while I still want to help people, I know now that there's something more important than success or failure. Sophie: And that makes me want to try harder. Euden: I understand completely. Sophie: I think this is all part of learning the human heart, and becoming humanity's companion. Sophie: I have many more things to learn, and uncountable people to meet. Sophie: Which is why I want to keep traveling with the Phantom Thieves. Sophie: I need to see all kinds of places! Euden: I think that's a great idea, Sophie. Heck, you just made it here, right?
