Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (JP) is a Nintendo DS role-playing game based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It was developed by BioWare, who is now part of Electronic Arts, while the rights to the game still belong to Sega. The game was released on September 26, 2008 in Europe and September 30, 2008 in North America.

An official part of the storyline, it combines the continuities of the original DiC cartoon named Sonic the Hedgehog (based loosely on the first few games) and the Sonic X anime storyline that adapted several Sonic games. Characters were designed by Sonic and Super Smash Bros. series character designer Takashi Iizuka. The Zoah name came from an entry in a contest for fans to name a race in the game. It takes place immediately before Sonic Unleashed.

Gameplay[]

The gameplay revolves around traditional RPG elements, staying true to the previous BioWare video games. Engagements will start when the playable character touches an enemy, rather than random battles occurring suddenly without seeing the enemy. During battle, four characters can fight at once, and you're also able to execute team attacks that involve up to four different characters.

In all, there are forty team attacks that can be performed. Each one has a unique name and includes one of the eleven characters.
