Slippy Toad(JP) is a character in the Star Fox series.

Appearances[]

Star Fox series[]

Slippy is the main mechanic of the Star Fox team, and a very close friend of Fox McCloud. He is hinted to be unathletic compared to the other team members, and tends to have a, goofball nature, such as throwing his wrench to turn off Fox's jukebox (much to Fox's irritation), asking Fox teasingly if he's not shy after he timidly responds to Krystal thanking him, and when running into his Arwing during the Battle on Fortuna, where he comically falls down face-first when getting into his cockpit, in contrast to the others making an elegant leap. Slippy is currently engaged with Amanda Toad in Star Fox: Command. His father, Beltino Toad, is research director of Corneria. In the game Star Fox Adventures, Slippy's purpose was giving hints. Slippy first appeared in Star Fox for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and has made a prominent appearance in every game in the series since. He then makes an appearance in Starlink: Battle for Atlas becoming playable in the late April 2019 update.

Super Smash Bros. series[]

Slippy Toad has appeared as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In both games, Fox McCloud and Falco Lombardi are able to "summon" Slippy through communication links on Star Fox themed stages. In Brawl, Slippy has a discussion with Solid Snake on Shadow Moses Island if Snake uses his codec during a battle against Falco. In Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the secret taunt using communication links was reused. The following are the trophy descriptions in the series:

Super Smash Bros. Melee

"Slippy Toad is the mechanical genius behind most of the Star Fox team's new weapons and technology, and just lately he's been spending the bulk of his time in Research and Development. He's also a competent pilot, but his enthusiasm tends to outweigh his technical flight skills. He and Fox have been friends ever since their school days."

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

"A top-notch mechanic with less- than-stellar battle skills. Respected for his talent, he joins the Star Fox team and shows his mechanical genius in everything from vehicle maintenance to weapons development. Slippy often holds the team back with his clumsiness but makes up for it with his likable personality and morale-boosting presence."

Trivia[]

  • Slippy was based off of EAD member Yoichi Yamada, who always signed papers with cartoon frog.
