Sitri, full name Sitri Eisner, is a background character in Fire Emblem: Three Houses as well as a former nun of the Church of Seiros. She is the late wife of Jeralt, therefore late mother of Byleth. She died shortly after Byleth's birth.

Appearance and Personality

Sitri had dark green hair.

Sitri was described as a kind and gentle soul, but similar to Byleth, had trouble expressing emotion. She was often fascinated by Jeralt's storytelling abilities since she was unable to see the rest of the world, which all of this caused her love for him. According to Aelfric, most of her moments when she showed emotion were to Jeralt. Sitri looked up to Rhea as her mother, making Rhea and Sitri have an adoptive mother-daughter relationship.

History

Sitri was the 12th of the Nabatean vessels created by Rhea to try and maniest the spirit of the Goddess Sothis to try and revive her. Sitri was a failed vessel, but had the Crest of Flames, Sothis's Crest, as well as her heart resting in her body.

Sitri was very frail throughout her life and was never able to leave the monastery, talking to very few people. One of the few people she talked to was Aelfric, one of her closest friends. She then met Jeralt, captain of the Knights of Seiros, eventually getting married to him and falling pregnant, giving birth to Byleth on the 20th of the Horsebow Moon.

Byleth was born in critical condition and Sitri was about to die. Sitri then pleaded Rhea to transfer her heart to Byleth to save their life. While Rhea did not want to lose Sitri, she accepted her descision. The transplant was successful, killing Sitri in the process while saving Byleth's life.

Her death became a driving force for many characters in the game, including Jeralt and Aelfric. After her death she was remembered by Church members after her burial.

However, Rhea did not want to bury Sitri in the "cold and dark soil" and instead took her body to Abyss and trapped her body in time to preserve her. The burial was a fake and Sitri's body was not buried.

Ten years before the start of the game, Aelfric discovers Sitri's body and plans to use the Chalice of Beginnings to resurrect her by using the Ashen Wolves in the Rite of Rising ritual. In Cindered Shadows, his plan fails and he becomes an Umbral Beast, who is eventually slain, where Sitri is then given a proper burial.

Rhea claims in Silver Snow that if she did not do anything to help Sitri or her child, both of them would have died. In Cindered Shadows after the final battle, Rhea confirms to Byleth that Sitri's last words were "My heart, give it to my child.".

Trivia

  • While Fire Emblem: Three Houses came out in 2019, Sitri was not introduced until February 2020 in the DLC side story Cindered Shadows. Before her reveal, she was left nameless.
  • After Cindered Shadows is completed, if the player visits Sitri's grave at the monastery the name will be updated to Sitri Eisner instead of a faded away name.
  • Sitri's age is not stated by characters in game, but if the player visits her grave, it will say she lived from 1139-1159, meaning she was 20 years of age when she gave birth to Byleth and died.
