Shunsuke Utsugi is a character in the Famicom Detective Club series. He is a private investigator who runs the Utsugi Detective Agency, which the protagonist and Ayumi Tachibana work at.
Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind[]
In the prequel and its remake, Utsugi is first shown when the protagonist is running from police. He invites the protagonist to stay at his place, where he'll work as an assistant as his detective agency. The protagonist agrees, and becomes an assistant at the Utsugi Detective Agency.
When Utsugi tasks the protagonist with investigating the murder of high school student Yoko Kojima, he himself investigates the murder of bar owner Genjiro Kaneda. The two murders soon turn out to be related.
Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir[]
In the original game and its remake, Utsugi is not present. According to Ayumi, Utsugi is away investigating a different case during the events of the game.

Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club[]
He initially appears in the beginning where he takes the protagonist along to investigate the apparent murder of a Junior High school boy named Eisuke Sasaki. Elements of his backstory also pop up in this game: In particular, he had been involved in the original case entailing a string of serial killings 18 years prior to the game, and he had seemingly worked alongside Inspector Kamada as well as Junko Maze (though the latter would deny her ever meeting him). He eventually leaves by the third chapter, as he sought to personally investigate the origin of the Emio Urban Legend, and other than a brief cameo in Chapter 6 was largely absent until the third-to-last chapter where he calls in to tell the protagonist and Ayumi that he uncovered enough information of the Urban Legend to specifically single out the missing suspect Minoru Tsuzuki as being directly tied to both it and the serial killer cold case.
Aside from the main game, he also acted as the main protagonist of the post-game chapter "Minoru", which in-universe was him debriefing the protagonist on his investigation and revealing what he found out about Minoru's past, with the protagonist agreeing upon readying himself due to it dealing with very dark subject matter such as parental abuse.
