Shintaro Sato is a programmer at Nintendo EPD Production Group No. 5, and the program director of the Splatoon series.

History[]

He joined in 2008 in EAD and initially worked on the UI of Wii Music, as well as the programming of an audio guide that Nintendo designed for the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art.

After his work on the system program of New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, he led the programming team of Splatoon, where he created the game's first demo, which was dubbed the "tofu" version as the characters looked like blocks of tofu at this point.

For further Splatoon entries, Sato took on the role of director, overseeing the competitive aspect of the franchise with the online battles and gameplay cycles.
