The Seventh Pokémon generation starts with Pokémon Sun and Moon, taking place in the Hawaii-inspired Alola Region.
New Pokémon[]
There are 88 species in this generation for a grand total of 809. Some of them including Litten, Popplio, and Rowlet as starters. This generation also introduced several new forms for first generation Pokémon including Raichu and Marowak as well as Zygarde getting two new forms.
Games[]
Main Series[]
The first main entries are Pokémon Sun and Moon for the 3DS in 2016, that take place in Alola region.
The games were followed up with Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for the 3DS in 2017.
Rounding of the generation is Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, the second remake of the Kanto games, released for the Nintendo Switch in 2018.
Spinoffs[]
Pokémon Picross features some new formes from the seventh generation despite releasing severally months prior.
Pokkén Tournament DX is an expanded version of Pokkén Tournament which includes new seventh elements including Decidueye as fighter, Litten and Popplio as assist Pokémon and the new Thalia Beach based on Alola.
Incineroar is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with other Pokémon from this generation as Poké Ball Pokémon such as Mimikyu, Solgaleo and Marshadow.
Detective Pikachu was relased in 2018, it features a talking Pikachu and his partner, Tim Goodman, solving mysteries in Ryme City.
Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Duel have received updates that add new Alola Pokémon.
The mobile games Pokémon Magikarp Jump, PokéLand and Pokémon Playhouse are based off the seventh generation.

Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon is the sixth series of the long running Pokémon anime, based on this generation. The series spawn 3 seasons and 3 movies (the first two are set in an alternate continuity, while the latter is a remake to the first movie).

- Legendary and Mythical Pokémon to have evolutionary lines.
- Add new Pokémon in the mid generation.
- Not introduce a Pokémon that evolves through trading.
- Remove HMs, field moves and the Dowsing Machine, which were replaced with the PokéRide feature in Pokémon Sun and Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and the Secret Technique, Partner Pokémon, and walking Pokémon in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!
- Have its core series games released in every year of the generation in all territories.
- Have aesthetic differences appear on the startup and title screens due to in-game actions, being the gender of the mascot Pokémon and their current outfit.
