Sans (also known as Sans the Skeleton) is a main character in the indie hit, Undertale, he takes on the role of a laid-back lazy pun-loving character who doesn't fight due to a promise with Toriel, but in the Genocide route of the game, he's the real final boss, and makes a cameo appearance in Undertale's successor, Deltarune. He is also a Mii costume in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Appearance[]
Sans is a very short and paunchy skeleton with a huge, oversized skull and is seen wearing a light-blue hoodie with black shorts with white lines on them, a white tank-top and salmon slippers. He has large bags under his eye sockets, which have white glowing pupils floating in it. Sans also has a wide grin. A strange attribute to about his skeletal body are his hands which look more like mittens rather than skeletal hands.
Undertale[]
Sans is a major character in Undertale, the game in which he originated from. He is a skeleton who loves making skeleton puns, doing nothing, taking a break from work, and taking naps. He lives with his younger brother Papyrus in the town of Snowdin. They both work as sentry's in the Snowdin forest, watching out for humans. While Papyrus is devoted to capturing a human, Sans doesn't really care if a human comes by or not, as he sits and boondoggle, read car magazines in the forest, or sells hot dogs. His attitude towards the player changes depending on which route you are on, pacifist route has him treating you very nicely, neutral route has him treating you fairly (unless you kill his brother Papyrus, in which he neglects you until he judges you at the end of the game), and genocide route has him treating you cruelly, making you feel bad about all the monsters you've killed.
Deltarune[]
In the epilogue of Deltarune's first chapter, Sans is seen standing outside of his shop, which is closed. In the epilogue of Chapter 2, his shop is open, and Sans is seen behind the counter.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
On September 5, 2019, a video was posted by Nintendo entitled "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Mii Fighter Costumes #3 - Nintendo Switch" which at the end announced that Sans would be a Mii Fighter costume for Mii Gunner along with adding one of his leitmotifs, Megalovania, to the game as a song.

In the remix of Megalovania, Bonetrousle, and Heartache can be heard towards the end of the song.
