Rune Factory Frontier(JP) is a farming simulation game that is a part of the Rune Factory series, which in itself is a part of the Harvest Moon series. This is the third Rune Factory game in the series and the first to appear on the Wii (the first two were released on the Nintendo DS). Rune Factory: Frontier is unique to other games in its series with it's added emphasis on fighting monsters and defeating dungeon bosses.
This is the first Rune Factory game not to be published by Natsume Inc. in North America. This game was originally intended to be released in 2009 in America and Europe, however it was postponed in Europe and released in April 1, 2010 instead.
The story involves a young man named Raguna who attempts to revive a struggling town. Traversing dungeons and defeating bosses are important to moving the main story forward.
