Company History[]

The company was founded as rondomedia Marketing & Vertriebs GmbH by André Franzmann in 1998 and starts operations in Moenchengladbach/Germany. A couple years later in 2000 a second person comes to the company a Dirk Walner and they found the Astragon Software GmbH subsidiary in Hagen later moving it to Moenchengladbach in 2004.

Farming Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator were released in 2008 to great acclaim and started the very successful Simulation game series which is still going strong now in 2023. rondomedia launches Real Heroes: Firefighter on the Nintendo Wii in 2009 as their first game in the Simulator series on a console.

The rondomedia and Astragon won the German LARA Special Award in 2010 along with Farming Simulator 2011 winning a German Developer Award in the category "Best Simulation Game". Farming Simulator 2013 was the first game in the Simulator series to appear simultaneously on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012; solidifying the Simulation series in the console and PC market.

Astragon moved on from being a distributor to an international publisher in 2012 and a year later in 2013 Construction Simulator 2014 became a hit worldwide as the first in the Simulation series on mobile devices. 2015 marked the year rondomedia and Astragon formed the Astragon group consisting of Astragon Sales & Services and astragon Entertainment. The rondomedia name was not used from then on.

Julia Pfiffer and Tim Schmitz took over management in 2017 of astragon Entertainment and they started pushing forward the development of own IPs and expanding international publishing to grow the Simulation series even further. Farming Simulator 19 wins the Gamescom Award for "Best Simulation" in 2018 marking their second big award in the category. Astragon finally became big enough to get their first booth at PAX East in 2019 and Astragon HQ gets moved to Duesseldorf in the same year.

2020 marked a time for celebration for the company as it celebrated its 20 years Anniversary of the astragon Entertainment subsidiary with a huge 80% off sale. Astragon finally merged the last subsidiary Astragon Sales & Services into astragon Entertainment in 2021 becoming solely a gaming company.

And finally Astragon recently became part of Team17 Group PLC in the year 2022 for £83 million. It seems big things are coming for the company and they just keep getting bigger and bigger. Who knows what's next?
