Retro Studios, founded in 1998, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo Company, Ltd. Retro is a State of the Art Game Development Studio working in conjunction with Nintendo to bring cutting-edge games to Nintendo Hardware Systems such as the Nintendo GameCube, and Wii. Retro Studios, in collaboration with Nintendo, produced its first Smash Hit with Metroid Prime for the Nintendo GameCube which released in Fall 2002. The team went right back to work producing the unique and much anticipated Hit Sequel Metroid Prime 2: Echoes for the Nintendo GameCube which released in Fall 2004. Metroid Prime; Metroid Prime 2, and Retro Studios have won numerous honors. Retro Studios is currently at work developing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
