Regice(JP) is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a Ice legendary Pokémon that made its first appearance in the third generation games Ruby and Sapphire. It is a part of Legendary giants with Regirock, Registeel, Regigigas, Regidrago and Regieleki.
Physiology and Behaviour[]
Regice is a large, blue Pokémon composed of solid Antarctic ice. Its body is comprised of angular crystal-like shapes and its face has an unusual pattern consisting of seven yellow dots in a "+" formation. It has four spikes on its back and its two legs are conical and it balances its entire body on their points. There are three fingers on each of its pentagonal arms.
As depicted in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Regice can move around by floating in the air. Regice cloaks itself in air that is −328 °F (−200 °C), and anything near Regice will become frozen. It can even survive when submerged in molten lava or other extremely hot temperatures. Regice is believed to have been created by Regigigas, and has slept in a glacier for thousands of years since an ice age. It was sealed away in ancient ruins by people in the past.
Appearances[]
Main Pokémon games[]
In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, after completing the puzzle in the Sealed Chamber, the legendary giants can be encountered by going to their respective caves.
In Pokémon Platinum, if the player has an event Regigigas, the legendary giants can be found in their respective caves in Sinnoh. Additionally, all the 3 giants in the player's party are required to wake the game's Regigigas.
In Pokémon Black and White 2, the giants are obtained in the Underground Ruins. However, Regice requires the Iceberg Key which requires the Unova Link for Black 2. Like Sinnoh, Regigigas can be awakened if the player has all 3 giants in his party.
Other Pokémon games[]
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness: Regice is the boss of Ice Chamber in Aegis Cave.
Super Smash Bros. series[]
Trophy descriptions[]
In the anime[]
Regice appeared in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew alongside the other legendary giants. It was a guardian of the Tree of Beginning. It first tried to attack Ash Ketchum, but was stopped by Lucario. In the end, it and the other guardians realized Ash and his friends were not a threat and continued protecting the Tree of Beginning.
Brandon owns a Regice and the other legendary giants. They were used to fight Ash in Pokémon Battle Frontier and Paul from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl: Galactic Battles.
Origin and inspiration[]
Regice is based on the legend of the golem. The legendary giants' types could have been a reference to the three major ages in history, with Regice being the Ice Age.
