Red Steel is a first-person shooter/swordfighting game. Utilizing the Wii's remote and Nunchuk attachment, the player takes to the streets of the United States and Japan fighting anything in their path, switching between firearms and swords, fighting gangsters, mobsters, and Yakuza bosses.
It was one of the Wii launch titles in 2006 and was developed exclusively for the Wii by Ubisoft.
Gameplay[]
Controlling the characters movements is done through the nunchuk. Sword fighting consists of well-timed sword slashes with the remote and quick blocking techniques with the nunchuk. Gunplay combat uses the remote as the actual gun in the palm of the players hand.
Plot[]
The game begins with the main character Scott Monroe, who is on his way to finally meet his fiancee's father. During the meeting, his fiancee is kidnapped by her father's enemies. The player then sets out on a mission to rescue her, encountering gangsters and thugs, then getting mixed up with the Yakuza, a Japanese organized crime syndicate. As it turns out, the Yakuza are after a sword called the "Katana Giri".
