Ranger is a recurring job class in the Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, and Dragon Quest series.
Final Fantasy series[]
In Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, they wield bows and are usually an enhanced version of the Archer.
Fire Emblem series[]
In Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, rangers are promoted from Nomads. In Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, they are promoted from Archers and Mercenaries. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Ike is the only Ranger in the game and promotes to Lord (which is odd because most main characters in the series start out as Lords).
Dragon Quest series[]
Rangers in the Dragon Quest series have increased agility and wisdom. This vocation is can be unlocked by mastering prerequisite vocations in VI or by completing a quest in IX.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest VI[]
In order to become a ranger, a character must master the Merchant, Monster Master, and Thief classes. Rangers get an increased chance of successfully fleeing from an enemy as they progress.
