Rabbids, also known as the Raving Rabbids or The Lapins Cretins ("The Idiot Rabbids" in French), is a species of oddball-looking anthropomorphic rabbit creatures which first appeared in Rayman Raving Rabbids. Created by Michel Ancel, they often wild in nature and cause havoc in a variety of places and worlds. Ancel referred them as "vicious, but [...] totally stupid".[1] Their language is usually spoken with "Bwah!".
They eventually got their own spin-off franchise, Raving Rabbids (or simply Rabbids), and have appeared in various video games, television, and short films.
The Rabbids would later clash in the Mushroom Kingdom in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle where numerous merged variants would engage in turn-based battles with Mario and his crew. Four Rabbid counterparts, including Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Mario, and Rabbid Yoshi, would be a part of Mario's team. Unlike the rest of the other Rabbids, the one in the game including the counterparts themselves have unique personalities rather than simply being dressed in costumes.
History[]
The Rabbids characters made their first appearance in the beta trailer for Rayman 4 (later became Rayman Raving Rabbids), in which they were portrayed as enemies in a zombie-like manner. They had actual fur, their eyes were red, thinner lips, and appearances varied in size and height.[2]
