Puyo Puyo Sun (JP) is an entry in the Puyo Puyo series. The Nintendo 64 version was released as Puyo Puyo Sun 64 (JP) while the Game Boy Color version was released as Pocket Puyo Puyo Sun(JP)
It was first released in arcades in December 1996. In 1997, it became available to the Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, and PlayStation, the former having the 64 modem added to the end of title like in most other games released for the Nintendo 64 except a few games and the latter having the Ketteiban added to the end of the title. It was later released into PC, a pocket version known as Pocket Puyo Puyo Sun released in November 1998, and a cut-down version being on the Sega Genesis Mini.
Gameplay[]
Puyo fall from the top of the screen in pairs, can be moved left and right, and can be rotated clockwise and counter clockwise by 90 degrees; if the third column from the left fills up to the top, the game is over.
What sets this game apart is the introduction of the Sun Puyo - By offsetting waiting Nuisance Puyo, the player earns Sun Puyo that drop into random columns. They are similar to Nuisance Puyo except that they increase the amount of Nuisance that the opponent receives when they are cleared. Sun Puyo is also given whenever the player clears their entire area, unlike Tsu.
Plot[]
After reading a magazine, Satan uses special magic to pull the Sun closer to the Earth. Satan is convinced that women will come flocking to him if he does this. Arle, together with Carbuncle, find the sun too hot, and see the building that Satan's emanating his own heat wave from. Draco loves the hot weather and appears in a bikini, whereas Schezo, who takes refuge in a cave, finds that it's just not cool enough, and decides to find out what's happening.
