A new feature in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is the ability to take pictures of the player and a Pokémon. The player can choose between many backgrounds and customize their appearance. The player can also perform the various Z-Move poses.
When taking a picture, it takes several of them in a row so the player can choose which one they like. Players can then decorate the picture with various props like ribbons and mustaches.
Players have to go to a studio normally, but certain events like evolving certain Pokémon can let the player take a picture at their location.
The games have a new plot that involves Necrozma. It seems several of the Trials have changed with several characters seeming to have new roles. A group called Ultra Space Recon Squad has several interactions with the player through the game.
