Pokémon Journeys: The Series (simply as Pokémon Journeys and known in Japan as Pocket Monsters or Pocket Monsters 2019) is the seventh series of Pokémon the Series. This anime series is based on the events of all the core series games, including the Eighth Pokémon generation games Pokémon Sword and Shield, with several episodes promoting Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It aired in Japan from November 17, 2019 to March 24, 2023 (although the first episode had a special screening two days earlier) and on June 12, 2020 to September 8, 2023 in the United States. It is the final series to feature Ash Ketchum and Pikachu as the protagonists of the anime as Liko and Roy take Ash's place in the succeeding series. A miniseries titled Pokémon: To Be a Pokémon Master served as their grand finale to the series.

Unlike the previous six series of the anime, the English dub in the United States aired on Netflix instead on television with 12 episodes released quarterly. Netflix announced to delist this series and its last day to watch was supposed to be September 7, 2024, until Netfilx reversed this decision a few days before the announced date.

Plot[]

Ash travels across all eight regions (including Galar) to compete in the World Coronation Series. Along the way, he's accompanied by his new friend and co-protagonist Goh, whose dream is to catch all the Pokémon in the world, especially the Mythical Pokémon Mew. Various characters from past series made several guest appearances or flashbacks/cameos, including characters from Galar.

In the To Be a Pokémon Master arc, Ash and Pikachu reunite with Misty and Brock and decide to travel with them again with the Legendary Pokémon Latias playing an important role. At the end of the series, Ash decides to travel again to meet and befriend new Pokémon to achieve his goal of becoming a Pokémon Master, which ended his run as the anime's main protagonist after 26 years.
