Pokémon Black and White is the fourteenth season of Pokémon the Series and the first and titular season of Pokémon the Series: Black and White. Brock and Dawn have left the series, and Ash Ketchum is joined by a new female trainer named Iris and Gym Leader named Cilan. The evil syndicate Team Rocket has a part to play in this season, and Jessie, James, and Meowth have been promoted.
The Who's That Pokémon? segment made its return after 8 seasons (In Japan, Battling the King of the Mines! from the following season).
The two-part episode Team Rocket vs. Team Plasma! was originally scheduled to be broadcast on March 17 and March 24, 2011. The Pokémon Smash episode on the week that would have followed by the first part was preempted from broadcast due to the news coverage of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, before being postponed due to the content of the episodes wherein Castelia City is destroyed. There were plans for the episodes to be broadcast at a later date, but the episode was never actually aired.
Toys "R" Us promotion[]
To promote the series and the episode where Ash obtains an egg, Pokémon Black and White players were able to obtain an egg containing either an Axew, a Pansage or a Pidove exclusively at US Toys "R" Us stores between April 27, 2011, and May 31, 2011. Each one contained their moves like anime counterparts (Ash's Pidove, Cilan's Pansage and Iris' Axew). Players were only able to get one egg and which of the Pokémon the egg hatched into was random.
