Petey Piranha is one of the first bosses in Super Mario Sunshine. Atop the windmill of Bianco Hills is Petey, who is responsible for the huge mess plaguing Bianco Village. When the player reaches the top, Petey will collapse the roof of the windmill, plunging Mario and Petey in, initiating the Boss battle. To defeat him, Mario must fill his belly with water using FLUDD then ground pound his belly, and repeat the process 2 more times. He also appears later in the game as another boss, but this time he can fly.
After his appearance in Super Mario Sunshine, Petey went on to play many roles in the Mario series, such as a boss in Mario Pinball Land, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Super Princess Peach, and New Super Mario Bros.. He has also played a role in the game Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as a playable character. Along with that, he's appeared in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Power Tennis, and will appear as a boss in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Petey Piranha is voiced by the famous voice actor Tom Kenny.
Super Mario Galaxy
- A boss in the upcoming video game Super Mario Galaxy named Prehistoric Piranha resembles Petey Piranha. However, he has other features, such as a resemblance to a dinosaur and a large, vine-like tail.
