Paya is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its sequel The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. She is a Sheikah and can be found at Kakariko Village in the region of West Necluda. She is the granddaughter of Impa. She is also the one responsible of the prayers in the village.

History[]

Breath of the Wild[]

Paya

Paya as seen in Breath of the Wild.

Paya is found in Impa's home in Kakariko Village, where she usually watches over the Sheikah Heirloom. She has a diary in her room that Link can read.

Tears of the Kingdom[]

Sometime between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Impa stepped down from her role as Sheikah chief and declared Paya the new chief, with Dorian as her assistant.

Etymology[]

Paya says that her name comes from a papaya-shaped birthmark she has on her left butt cheek, though she seems embarrassed by its location. She will refuse to reveal the birthmark's location when Link asks, but is eventually outed by Impa. She uses the name "Papaya" as her alias for her entry in the Journal of Various Worries.
